Significant, but not sudden, x axis drift

Hi All,

A new little bug showed up in my stock built, Prusa I3 MK2 last night. Check the picture attached. The part was printed with the side facing the Prusa logo down into the bed, meaning the shift is in the x-axis. It doesnt seems sudden so I'm not thinking belt slipping, and I've never had a problem running in silent mode before, but I ran it in high power and got the same results.

I'm a little out of ideas, anyone got anything?

Thanks,
Corey

My intuition tell me that the frame isn't square: check if your y-axis gantry is well push against the z one (unscrew the bolts, push, tighten them.

I can't visualize how this drift would even be possible if that were the case since it would drive the print head into the print, right? but always good to double check.

Checked with a T-Square and everything is as perpendicular as I can make it!

So, how are your belt? Maybe it skip a step at each corner because it's too tight
or your run in silent mode and you need the high-power to not skip steps ...

Re: Significant, but not sudden, x axis drift

I was experiencing x-axis drift. The print would start in the right spot, and with every layer, it would move a bit to the left, resulting in very skewed prints.

I did a self-test to recalibrate, and the x-axis test failed. The problem was the cable bundle. The zip tie heads were on the side and were hitting the PSU, preventing the print head from moving all the way to the right. I moved the zip ties heads, the self-test passed and my prints are now normal.
