Reset button - Resume possible
Hello,
I was ending my first print, but I've accidentally pressed the reset button.
It's possible to resume the work?
Are there some hints in case to continue?
Thanks,
Simon
Re: Reset button - Resume possible
You can't resume interrupted print.
Sometimes it is possible to put partially printed part away, print the rest separately (I use Netfabb for precise cutting) and then glue both parts together.
Re: Reset button - Resume possible
Hello,
Thanks, I'm trying to resume the missed part increasing the Z Axis Offset and so starting where the print was stopped.
Then I'll try to use glue to attache the two parts together.
It's not the same, but at least I've learned... DON'T TOUCH THE RESET BUTTON DURING PRINTING 😀
Re: Reset button - Resume possible
The thing wrong with 3D printing today, is that the firmware/software controls the steppers relatively and not with direct feedback or knowledge of position or memory. Even so you would have a blob in the 3D print where the head settled when the blip/crash/power failure/ reset occurred. And the move on if achieveable.

Yep, I know.
I've printed the missing part. I's not the same as printing all in one piece, btw better than trash all 🙂
Thanks
Re: Reset button - Resume possible
I had a similar problem with my second ever print. (3DBenchy). While printing on my mk3 I plugged in Octoprint and the Printer immediately resetted.
It would be nice if the firmware would include a Safety feature so that the printer ask you before it resets during a print.
Also there should be a resume possibility for aborted prints using the reset button. This should be possible with mk3 I think because the power outage feature saves the last print position two.
Re: Reset button - Resume possible
Interesting a post after near two years. 🙂
BTW meanwhile I've switched from MK2(S) to MK3. I've not tested the resume / power outage of the new printer.
I'm using it via onboard RPi Zero so I think the resume is still not possible. But, I've not tested it.
