Question regarding the E3DV6 silicone sock
Hello,
as I am waiting for my Prusa I was wondering which sock setup should I order for it?
Should I grab the sock pack only or the full "housing and thermistor kit"?
Re: Question regarding the E3DV6 silicone sock
Hi !
I use "socks only" and it works fine. After performing a PID, temperatur is only sweeping around one digit (less than 1°C)

Didn't you have to cut the sock a bit? Because I think I saw a video about this upgrade and the guy couldn't put it on correctly and had to cut an edge off..

No, it's not necessary. I only cut the 2 zipties, installed the sock and zipped it again.

Re: Question regarding the E3DV6 silicone sock
💡 the thing is that the sock is designed for the "big" e3dv6 heater block (with a length of 24mm). our' i3 mk2 comes along with such a heater block.
so it would fit like a glove, right out of the box.
if you've used another type of e3dv6 hotend as spare part (maybe such a part from china), you might need to order the pack with the heater block and the "long thermistor" (V6-BLOCK-SOCK-KIT). or try to cut the sock down a little bit (which might cause other issues).
i've assembled such a sock but i fixed it with a 0.5mm enamelled copper wire that i tied around the top of the heater block, so that the sock couldn't get loose when the nozzle hits an upcurling leg of a treefrog .
dem inscheniör is' nix zu schwör...
