Prusa mk2 - Temperature problem
Hello friends,
Here is a video of my problem (check the temperature jumping from 23-24° to +210°) :
I've tried troubleshooting it by double-checking the temperature sensor connector, installing the latest firmware, using the latest Slic3r, sing the selfcheck procedure with no success.
My guess is that the printer, thinking his nozzle is only at 23-24°, heats up even if the temperature is already at about 210°.
This happened after a thermal runaway error.
Does anyone already had that problem ?
Thanks.
Re: Prusa mk2 - Temperature problem
My first suggestion would be to try re-flashing the firmware again in case something got corrupted. If that doesn't help and you have triple checked every connection then can I ask does it have this problem when you do a pre-heat or print one of the supplied files off of the SD card? Eg. The Prusa Logo or Marvin? If it's only when you print a file you've sliced yourself can you upload the gcode file to here so we can take a look at it?
Re: Prusa mk2 - Temperature problem
It must be some kind of hardware failure - damaged temp. sensor or its cable/connector or something like that. It might be something which depends on vibration or forces induced by movements of printer parts (extruder or bed).
I would try to disassemble the extruder, put temp. sensor cable apart and check it again.
Re: Prusa mk2 - Temperature problem
Thanks for the answers !
I reflashed the firmware but the problem is still there. Preheating does not seems to work (It preheats but the sensor doesn't see it.) I tried printing a "stock" model but same problem 😕
Re: Prusa mk2 - Temperature problem
OK, if you've checked all the connections twice, flashed the firmware, and it is doing it when preheating then the only thing left to check is whether the thermistor is fitted correctly in the hotend. It should either fasten with a large screw on the side (old version) or a little grub screw underneath near the nozzle (new version). Very gently check that these are secure. If they are loose at all then gently tighten them and try preheating again. If that doesn't work or they are already tight then I would recommend going on the free chat on the Prusa Shop site and talking to them as it sounds like there might be a problem (defect or damage) with the Thermistor or it's wiring. Give them the link to this thread when you chat with them.
Re: Prusa mk2 - Temperature problem
I would replace the sensor. Appears to be a bad connection.
Re: Prusa mk2 - Temperature problem
I think I have the same or at least a very similar issue. Did you resolve your problem?
Re: Prusa mk2 - Temperature problem
Hello
Could you give me the reference of the thermal "probe" for Prusia I3 MK2S, i have the same problem.
Thanks in advance

Hello,
I almost have the same problem, the probe is HS, I just want to buy the small temperature probe that is within my brand new I3 MK2S but I do not want to buy the entire body from the extruder's heater part, Just the temperature sensor. By releasing a large "bourage" the wires are torn off ...
thank you in advance

Bonjour,
Merci d'avance 😀

Re: Prusa mk2 - Temperature problem
I had a similar issue with the hotend swinging 5*C on both sides of set temp giving a 10*C swing. I compiled the latest FW and it happens to have a PID autotune baked in to take care of the problem.. With the latest released FW you can run an M303 S220 C8 to do a PID autotune. Then an M500 to save it to EEPROM.
