Printer head is raised in z axis during calibration

Hi, I just completed the upgrade for my original i3 printer and I have an issue with calibration.

When I start the new calibration file, it calibrates the bed fine. X, Y, Z axis movements are as expected and it seems to calibrate the height correctly. Once It starts to print the lines for some reason z axis motors start to spin and raise the head approx. 7 cm above bed, and starts the print.
I have tried to to move z axis after print, and it displays that this raised position is 0. Any ideas why this would happen?

Printer firmware: 3.0.3
Printer self test passed.

PS. The same behavior is also for any other print, tried using Cura and Slicer.

Did you modify the Start gcode by chance?

I'd look there to see if there is something funny.

I think you may need to carry out a factory reset which will clear out any stored settings from previous firmwares .

Apparently it is done by holding the LCD know down and pressing the reset button underneath it.

Then Settings/Auto Home; ensure the nozzle does not push the bed down; if it does, the probe is too high.

1. No I haven`t altered gcode in any way. I also checked downloaded gcode and it looks fine.
2. I did try to reset, but I think it was unsuccessful becouse I didn`t hear the beep as per instructions. How can I be sure it is reset?
3. Homing works great, the nozzle hovers over the bed and I can put the calibration paper in between freely.

Is there an explanation how PINDA probe works?

OK, so try factory reset again...

Press and hold the LCD button.
Press the reset button
When the printer restarts, wait a few seconds and release the LCD button.

The Z probe is very similar to a mechanical end stop; it detects pieces of metal embedded at certain positions within the heated bed (hence why head positioning is very important).

I really do suspect that the "Live Z Adjust" variable contains a stored value which is causing your problem. The other issue is that the displayed adjustment value does not display the tens column so what you see may not be the actual setting.
