Re: PrintBrite and i3 mk2
For sure. But it can be tomorrow though ...
Since I need no tools for removing the parts, I have even after a few months still no scratches on the surface although the printer runs almost daily.
Re: PrintBrite and i3 mk2
Thanks. Do you mean you had no scratches on the surface with the PEI sheet? Are you looking at it with a macro?
How did you install the new surface? Did you leave the PEI sheet in place and have you found the auto bed levelling still works?
Re: PrintBrite and i3 mk2
With the PEI I had scratches on the surface. Nothing really bad but visible.
The Filaprint still looks like brand new.
Sure I make a macro photo 🙄 .
You MUST remove the PEI sheet. How this is done is documented and there is no problem.
Re: PrintBrite and i3 mk2
I forgot the second part of the last question ...
The auto-levelling works without problems.
Since the Nozzle is somewhat closer to the surface because the Filaprint, I have a little more filament sedimentation than before if filament emerges at the nozzle while levelling.
Re: PrintBrite and i3 mk2
...The PEI shows every mark and scratch on the first layer....
🙄 at least at this point i can totally agree.
the pei sheet is somehow prone to scratches and marks... and if you got some, they'll be visible at the first layer, no doubt about that.
it's not "self healing"
➡ but i guess all sheet-type material that you can apply at your printbed will show this behaviour sooner or later. so the only alternative you got is a hardened glass plate (borosilicate for example).... but this won't work along with the meshbed leveling and the low inductive probe.
dem inscheniör is' nix zu schwör...
Re: PrintBrite and i3 mk2
Ok thanks for the replies to you both. My PEI sheet is beat up pretty bad (only been using it 2 months) and if I have to go through the trouble required to get that glue off, then I only ever plan to do it once. I'll install this Filaprint instead.
Out of interested, how long did they take to deliver the Filaprint?
Re: PrintBrite and i3 mk2
Three and a half Loooooooooooooog weeks.
Re: PrintBrite and i3 mk2
Yikes. Thanks.
Re: PrintBrite and i3 mk2
Hmm, filaprint. Yes, i actually never managed to *accidentally* scratch it, however it's not a miracle & has its very own set of flaws on top of not being terribly cheap.
it is a bit picky with what filament "works" well on it - down to brand in some cases (as in: being able to "self-release") Brand X PLA works like a dream, Brand B not so much. When asking for advise with filaments not on the short list of "officially supported types: PLA, PETG, ABS, LayWood/Laybrick & PLAtec ( btw. not Greentec)" all I got was rather short and a bit grumpy one sentence answer: "Not on our list of supported materials". Very helpful answer, even for German CS standards, this was a bit lacking I think.
- Be ready to learn all new bed temps and z-offset value and 1st layer speeds depending on brand and filament type, more than once I needed a hammer to get parts off. Talk about scratches, i was more worried I'd destroy the bed in the process.
- You are not supposed to clean it, yet it seems to soak up grease & oils making it rather tricky to get adhesion back if you had an accident or keep touching it.
- Don't use any scrapers, metal objects and, i quote from the instructions"Do not UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES touch it with your fingers". The CAPS are there in the instructions as well. Perhaps we should use gloves?
- Don't use Isoprop Alcohol, Aceton or anything else. A damp kitchen towel is ok to wipe away dust.
- No hotter than 120°C
Maybe i was just unlucky or am using the totally wrong filaments or are are too dumb to tune it in. Who knows, might work better for you guys out there than it did for me. If you were German, i'd say google it before you order or check german part of reprap forum, there are some interesting threads about it out there..
Oh and yes, the german manufacturer/distributor botched my order as well and I ended up waiting for a long time as well.
Re: PrintBrite and i3 mk2
Hi and sorry for the delay.
Here some pictures
first the Filarint surface:
It is slightly more shiny than the PEI. This sheet has been in operation for several months.
Then I have printed the Prusa logo...
It can be seen that the surface becomes absolutely smooth so that microscopically fine scratches and the surface structure of the Filaprint can be recognized.
Re: PrintBrite and i3 mk2
I know this is an old thread, but I have had this brought to my attention. We have had a number of enquiries for PrintBite for the Prusa Mk2.
Our standard material is 0.8mm thick, and is very close to the limit for use with these machines, possibly too close. However due to the number of enquiries, we are going to have a stock of 0.5mm material made specifically for the Prusa.
There will be a couple of samples for people to test on their machines. If you would like to try or buy, please contact us [email protected] or visit our website.
PrintBite is not fussy what material you print onto it, and neither are we 🙂 Pretty much all common brands and materials will adhere very well although you may need to adjust bed and nozzle temps slightly. PrintBite is also very competitively priced compared to other available products, whilst providing as good if not better performance. It is also extremely durable.

Thank you and keep up the good work.
Re: PrintBrite and i3 mk2
Wow, nice offer, thanks.
I replaced my PEI sheet with the one Prusa sent me because the old one was damaged. Oh my goodness, what a difference. The base is fantastic now with no fishscale patterns, parts stick easily and there is no longer warping. My original PEI must have been contaminated in some way from the factory.
Still if parts are easy to remove from the PrintBrite sheet it may well be worth it. Also you can adjust the Z Adjust by upto 1mm so it should be possible to use so long as you get the height of the PINDA probe right.
Re: PrintBrite and i3 mk2
Thanks for posting your results Jens. That looks excellent. That is how the surface of the GeckoTek build plates makes parts look.
Re: PrintBrite and i3 mk2
I've been looking at PrintBite for a while now - especially since I just jacked up my surface removing some PETG. I guess I need to stop printing long enough to fix it! 😉
Should probably replace the bearings while I'm at it, but too many changes at one time may be a problem...

Re: PrintBrite and i3 mk2
Has anyone tried the Matt PrintBite on their MK2? I can't find any images of the suface finish it gives (matt, not gloss).
Re: PrintBrite and i3 mk2
Good lord almost 10 months since I first posted on here. Anyways just in case you havent heard, PrintBite+ is now available for the MK2, might be old news, but hey! It has received a lot of good feedback, Gloss and Matte finish, the matte leaves a finish very close to the PEI. Gloss is ehm, glossy 🙂 Works well with the PINDa, took a bit of effort to get the thickness right, not to thick, not too thin.
