print quality problems

IMG_20160918_120142363[1].jpg

attached is a picture of my last 3 prints. the one on the left is my best i have had so far but obviously not perfect; there are holes and some layers don't seem to have stuck together properly. i read in another post that similar problems had been caused by fan issues but mine is definitely working. so i thought perhaps there is a draft, so today i kept the doors and window shut through out the print and i ended up with the two on the right. no settings where changed between the good print and the bad prints, although today is slightly warmer than yesterday. i don't know what would cause these issues because i am new to 3d printing i hope that someone will be able to help.

thanks in advance

Ollie.

Re: print quality problems

Hi Ollie,

for me this looks like underextrusion.

Are you using the right (PLA/ABS) gcode file from the SD-card?
Is the filament spool turning freely and is the filament not entangled?
Are the two screws with springs correctly tightend?

Is the pulley correctly mounted?

The nozzle might be blocked. You can try to clean it with the needle from the kit.

Re: print quality problems

im using the pla tree frog file from the sd card with pla filament that came with the kit
i have had a few blockages where i have had to unload the filament and the reload but i will try cleaning it with the needle next but the filament is moving freely
i dont think there any problems with screws/pulley it has just printed the prusa logo (as per the instructions from the customer service guy) perfectly
prusa customer service reckoned the problem was with the tree frog file

thanks for the reply

Re: print quality problems

Hi Ollie,

Does the centrifugical fan work fine when printing the frog ? It's the front fan, that blow air below to cool the printed material, it's necessary when printing PLA .

I'm like Jon Snow, I know nothing.
