Pressure on Print Cooling Fan
I've been running into an issue lately where too much pressure on the print cooling fan on my MK2 (i.e. the pressure holding it down from the screws and the back of it up against the extruder assembly) causes it to progressively slow down over the course of the first several minutes of a print to the point where it's spinning so slowly it's nearly useless. I've done some tinkering with it to remove most of that pressure which has resulted in it printing fine so far. But I'm wondering why this is all of a sudden a problem 6 months into printing with the printer. Does this mean the fan is dying? Has anyone else had the same issue?
Re: Pressure on Print Cooling Fan
Only thing comes to my mind is because over tightening screws that may cause fan jamming.
Re: Pressure on Print Cooling Fan
My original fan had sleeve bearings which dried out and gave the symptoms you describe. Taki g the label pff the back and lubricating before putting thr label back solved the problem for a while.
Eventually i replaced it with a ball bearing fan.

For some reason just saw this message the other day and just did exactly what you recommended and the fan is running well so far (I had rigged the fan up so it would run fine without screwing in the screws too far but it was somewhat sketchy so this solution is much better). Thanks!

Re: Pressure on Print Cooling Fan
I had the same problem, with loud noises from the print fan, for the first few minutes of a print. I lubricated as described and it worked perfectly!!! 😀
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!
