Postage is to expensive.

Please Prusa, add an alternative postage option.

I'd like to buy my filament from you but it's not viable.

I'd like to buy the upgrade kit from you but it's not viable.

It costs £22.60 to get anything delivered from you to the UK.

There has to be an alternative option to UPS...

Re: Postage is to expensive.

Same problem here in the USA, cost $67 US Dollars to ship anything, more than the MK2S upgrade kit costs. I had the upgrade kit in my cart and was checking out when I saw the shipping cost and cancelled the order. I wish they'd partner with Amazon or someone who can stock items in a central location for them and kill those shipping costs. I understand that the prices might have to be slightly higher, but I'm OK with that. I love Prusa's filament, but can't afford the shipping costs for it. I guess I'll just have to buy the hardware for the upgrade from a place where I can afford shipping from.

For my country (Belgium), it's still 22€ minimum. I can accomodate, when stuff is in stock, which is rarely possible in only one order...

The postage is killer. My mk2s upgrade kit cost over 80 by the time I got it shipped. And no PEI in stock so I couldn't add that to the order and save on shipping.

once upon a time they did have a partnership with Amazon for the Orginal Prusa I3, (pre-Mk2) and you could get it shipped with Prime, id imagine in the future, if they are able to catch up with backorders, they might again do that, but right now they'd have to eliminate their shipping queue first.

As to the OP question, i dont believe Prusa Research makes their own filament, so you may be able to find a distributer of the same filament in the UK who can ship it free or cheap. I dont know who the manufacturer is of the filament, but maybe Support would be nice enough to tell you.

That's true for the printer, but not for the MK2S upgrade kit or replacement parts like the PEI sheet or the print bed or the PINDA probe.

Even if the upgrade kit was $70 on Amazon Prime it would still be cheaper for us in the USA...

Since I bought the printer about 10 months ago I haven't bought anything from prusa. It's just to expensive.

I think prusa must be missing a lot of revenue from after sales because of their postage cost. Let's hope they are reading this and introduce and new option for delivery.

Re: Postage is to expensive.

A few alternatives in Europe to UPS would be: DHL, TNT, GLS, DPD, Hermes

Re: Postage is too expensive.

Same here I live in Japan and shipping anything from the site means paying as much as what I want to have shipped e.g: $100 of spools means shelling out $72 of shipping cost. Why not have your store on amazon as well or use any alternate transporters.

➡ i totally agree to the postings above !
please provide a second (less expensive) shipping method (i would prefer DHL). paying more than 22€ for shipping between neighbours is ridiculous. 👿
for 25€ i can get a flixbus ticket from frankfurt to prague, pick up my stuff personally and visit some nice locations, where the famous czech beer is served  .

dem inscheniör is' nix zu schwör...

Re: Postage is to expensive.

You know, this is one of the (very few) things I haven't complained about.

Being an ex-pat living in Slovenia, I have always found it quick and simple to have things sent from the UK. But it's damned expensive when you take into account the cost of shipping using a reliable courier service.

For me, UPS has always been very quick and reliable, but you get what you pay for. Regular post is cheaper, but has limited weights and can take several weeks from shipping to delivery - assuming it doesn't get "lost".

Personally I would much rather pay to get a tracked, timed and reliable delivery. And of course because it's signed-for PR doesn't lose money on non-deliveries.

As for filaments, those from PR are nothing special, again reflected in the price. I guess you could buy directly from the manufacturer (I believe it is Plasty Mladec: http://www.filament-pm.cz/ - the spools and filament colours look identical) but I don't think you would get a better deal. Probably worth a try though.

Re: Postage is to expensive.

I do not want to complain. But i would order alot more stuff from the Prusa store if there'd be a cheaper carrier option. DHL preferred as well.

Re: Postage is to expensive.

Transport costs for a printer, well I feel 20€ are ok then.
But if I just want a part which costs a few €, has no weight etc, then I feel 20€ for transpot is way to much.
Would be nice if Prusa Research could make two or three transport prices depending i.e. on weight or/and distance.
May be they could sell much more and earn more money this way? Just a thought.

Re: Postage is to expensive.

I agree with everything here, please add a cheaper delivery option for upgrades and smaller parts.
Regular post would be awesome, as It will give me a 50% chance of not paying extra taxes upon arrival of the package in my country.

Re: Postage is to expensive.

Postage can cost a significant part of the printer in result of a return due to poor quality control on the part of the manufacturer. Two way return can cost a third or more of the printer cost in postage.

I have a return RMA number for a printer I bought from China but supplied by their UK warehouse. I have UK consumer protection, and live a few miles from their UK warehouse. Not withstanding that, they offer replacement or a credit note. Under UK law I am entitled to a full refund if not satisfied. I want a replacement printer first, but after that If I am not satisfied I am entitled to a full refund under UK consumer law. Under EU and UK law do not be bullied by some companies.

My dealings with Prusa have always been good. They are a good company.

No doubt about that!
Sorry, but I don't understand, what is your point while discussing about cheaper costs for sendeing small parts here?
We all know, if you buy cheap things from China, and you'll buy several times
because you will give, and this with pleasure, more money to get the originals from original producers, later.
just my 5 cents

Re: Postage is to expensive.

My comnpany which is X times smaller that Prusa Research has much better prices for international shipping by UPS. I don't want to be unfair but this migh be an extra profit which is included in shipping cost.

If you looking for Prusa filaments (ABS and PLA) you can always search online for Plasty Mladec filaments. In Poland it costs 17€ and shipping around europe is 15€ (UPS 😀 )

Re: Postage is to expensive.

The shipping is ridiculously expensive.

We need to work on a comprehensive list of parts and suppliers so that we can source them more locally, anywhere in the world.

Either Prusa will reduce their shipping cost, or they will not sell many spare parts.
