Possibly a broken P.I.N.D.A. cable
Two days ago my Prusa MK2 just stopped calibrating itself out of a sudden. First, it was weird, because it sensed calibration points on the right-hand side of the bed (right point column i. e. Point 3, 6, and 9) everywhere - indicated by a turned off led light. However, when moved the print head up or forcing the bed down, the led came back up.
I thought that there was something wrong with the bed because the probe reacted to metal objects on every height correctly by turning off the led.
Yesterday evening I noticed something, that is also shown here in this video
However, this guy has the problems on the left-hand side, but the effect is the same.
It seems that the cable broke after hours and hours of printing and tells the controller an off state in a specific position.
This cable breakage is unfortunate and questions the quality, durability, and reliability of the cable.
I will do some more investigations on that cable today in the evening, but I have a general question:
Is there any chance to get a replacement of that probe without paying nearly as much for the shipping as for the product itself to get it to Germany?
How about some accommodation from Prusa Research directly when parts are not shown to be reliable?

Yeah, this happened occasionally with the Mk2, hence the improved cable support of the Mk2S.
If you haven't already, I would suggest you print out the parts for the rear of the extruder carrier (PLA is fine); you know need one longer screw for the cable support.
Have a word with Live Chat support; they may be able to arrange a new part for you.

Actually both of my printers are MK2S versions... no, not quite right... one is also already an MM version.
Anyhow: I tested the probe today and found two places where the cable was broken. Bending the cable with a certain curvature bridged the broken spots. When the cable was straightened (as it happens when the extruder moves to the right side), signal got lost.
I replaced the cable and voila, it works again.
Because I already ordered the MK2.5 upgrades for both of my printers, I don't want to buy a new (old) probe as it gets replaced anyway.
