My Mk2 works great!

Just to let you know, not everyone is having problems.

I just finished an upgrade of my original I3 and I am very pleased with the results. Other than missing installation of some hidden nuts in the extruder and having to reinstall firmware the build and calibration went very well. All I do now is pick a print file and go with great results.

Thanks to everyone involved in the design, fabrication and instructions of this great kit.

Hi George,

Not to jump on the bandwagon, but I too have a great working MK2. I just finished my first print. I am really impressed. There were a few hang ups because I was upgrading from a pre-built I3 Plus. Overall I am really impressed with it. Thanks to Josef and team for a wonderful product and a nice piece of kit.

Just a bit of fine tuning and I'm good to go.

Nice! Isn't it a nice feeling! 🙂

My prints turned out like that as well, then everything went crazy when I started to print my own sliced models 😀
After rebuilding the printer twice my printer prints awesome now as well! I cant see that there is another printer out there outputting this quality and build volume for this price!

Me on 3dhubs!

That is a good point Patrik. I have been printing with the included pre-generated .gcode files. I have used a slicer to generate my own gcode yet.

Re: My Mk2 works great!

My first real print after my Mk 2 upgrade, was part of a TRex model, a part of the spine. A difficult print, came out well.

Model has not been cleaned up yet. Printed on a raft, with edited supports, ie three used, using Simplify3D.

Since this print, I cannot achieve first layer adhesion good enough to carry on printing. I have cleaned the PEI surface with Isopropyl alcohol. Nothing sticks now.

I have two that have been working 24/7 with only very minor problems. Love the PEI bed. Can say the same for the erectorbot.
Prusa needs to make one for industrial use with monitoring, enclosure, larger, faster, and networking.

Re: My Mk2 works great!

So I made a couple prints using ABS and the Slic3r profile w/Z hop that Josef provides. It looks good, in fact the texture and feel is even better than the PLA. I did have an issue switching filaments. I like several others users I ended up with a blockage in the thermal break. That wasn't fun. It looks like the thermal break is glued into the heatsink, I couldn't remove it. Thankfully I was able to clear it out.

PLA is the orange print, ABS is the semi-translucent. It may look like the top layer isn't attaching to the perimeter on the ABS print, but those gaps are a few layers down.

Did factory reset and started again. After adjusting height of Z probe slightly, cabibrated bed (I'm running latest Beta firmware). Cleaned bed with Windex, getting great prints again 😀

I'll chime in too. I had several difficulties initially, but I think they were all either software related or user-error. Now everything is working quite well.

Latest test print.

Sorry for poor picture quality. I'll up my game. I used the wrong device.
