Mk2s failing every other print
I will attach some pictures from my phone, this is my first mk2s kit.
I'll get the same gcode file and do 4 prints and 1-2 of those prints will turn out underexttuding half way to the point the layers stop sticking, I've done several 19 hour prints and had almost half fail. :/
Re: Mk2s failing every other print
This looks like the extruder is not extruding filament at your upper layers.
A few more details would help:
Is this PLA? At what temperature? Did you do a PID temperature calibration? Is the unit in an enclosure? Have you had success with similar sized prints from the included SD card? How is the tension set on your extruder adjustable screws with springs)? Is the filament free to feed to the printer or is there resistance (either from the spool holder, or how the filament is wound on the spool)? Does this happen with other filament rolls, or just this one?
Any advices given are offered in good faith. It is your responsibility to ensure that by following my advice you do not suffer or cause injury, damage or loss. If you solve your problem, please post the solution…

Thank you, I tried a high-end roll of filament as opposed to one I extruded myself from pellets and it solved the issues at the same temperature. I noticed when i load filaments it clicks at the start pretty badly as it's pushing the filament threw so i cleaned the nozzle. I never did any PID temperature calibration could that solve these issues? 🙂 thank you!
Re: Mk2s failing every other print
The PID calibrations help keep the temperature much more steady rather than cycling above and below. If you are near a performance point in temperature, it can cycle above or below. The new firmware does this for you automatically and it helps a lot.

Re: Mk2s failing every other print
You might want to adjust the tension nobs on the extruder. May people add too much tension. I keep mine at 14mm with NO filament in the extruder.

Thank you! 🙂 will update firmware tonight for the temperature stability, fixing the tension on the extruder solved the issue even my crap filament is printing perfectly now.
thanks again!
Re: Mk2s failing every other print
So I ended up at exactly 15mm some clicking at 14, man I updated the firmware and this is wonderful PID calibration was a breeze I dialed in the numbers and ran a print with varies speeds to test wow just wow
thank you!
