Re: MK2 ABS prints not sticking to BED [Solved]

David,

Thanks for listing your settings! They have helped me get started on the path to printing with ABS on the MK2. I am using yours a baseline and then adjusting to make my prints clean!

Re: MK2 ABS prints not sticking to BED [Solved]

Hello,

New user, built MK2S kit a few days ago. Have successfully printed a few prints with PLA included with the kit.
First attempts with ABS and I'm having trouble with ABS not sticking to bed and delaminating on successive layers. Tried using settings as above (well at least the heat settings- didn't increase speed ). Still having trouble with not sticking to bed- tried a bit of glue stick on bed since I don't have any ABS juice.
This seemed to help with the first layer sticking better to bed so I left it to run ... came back to this mess:

Not sure how to even approach this... anyone got any advice on how to somehow remove this mess??

And then supposing I can get printer working again... how to get ABS to print successfully?

Heat up the extruder and you should be able to remove it.

Re: MK2 ABS prints not sticking to BED [Solved]

Thanks,

Heated extruder to 260deg and after much work managed to get most of it off. Unfortunately ABS had forced itself into every little gap around hotend and damaged the piece that the main fan sits on (although I don't think this will be a big problem).

Back to square one for me- anyone got any other advice for successful ABS prints and/or template setup for slicr?

Re: MK2 ABS prints not sticking to BED [Solved]

So I just got the upgrade kit from Prusa and I had them include the printed extruder since my original broke. I noticed on their print there was a very noticeable texture where it would have stuck to the bed, it almost looked like painters tape texture. Does anyone know what Prusa is using to keep their ABS prints stuck to the bed?

Unfortunately I don't have a picture of this texture 🙁

After I fixed up my printer, I immediately printed their provided G-Code for the upgrade parts. I did this as insurance in case things broke again. However the print nearly completely detached from the bed. The only thing that kept the piece on was these strange circle bits they added to the corners (they look like fancy brims) that overlapped into the other piece that was printing. The result is useless since it warped so bad.

I assumed that using the Prusa provided ABS with the Prusa provided G-Code would create a print similar to what they do in house. I'm glad I ordered the print from them, this would have been a terrible experience otherwise. Who's idea was it that we would print our own parts for an upgrade kit?

Do what I did to solve this issue. Use UHU Glu Stik on the bed, Angus( Makers Muse) recommends Glue also.
