Make custom kit command
Hi !
I'm very new in the 3D printing world and I'm planning to buy the MK2 kit.
I made some research and plan to already upgrade some parts like those noisy linear bearings and rods.
So it doesn't make sense to me to include them in the kit, and this could reduce the price.
The other thing is, since I will get the MK2, it would be easy for me to print all plastic parts in the case i buy another one.
This could also reduce the price.
So i would like to know if there is a way to make a custom command where i can buy only what i want of the kit ?
Thank you !
Re: Make custom pieces command
Unfortunately I cannot see prusa cutting down a kit in that way..
though it is possible to print the parts for the i3. ..
you may not be able to get a mk 42 heated bed for a while and after the cost of the machined parts and electronics you would probably be looking at the cost of a kit anyway...

Not exactly what I'm asking for. It would be great to have like a form with all items listed and choose the qty for each of them :).
If the packaging is handpicked, I don't know why it couldn't be possible.

I dont wanna buy each part separately, even if it would be great for others i'm sure.. Like i said it would be a custom command with the qty of each item to include in the kit. Even if it save me 100$-200$.. It's pretty good.
I'm changing all [6] rods and all [6-7] bearings for my first one. (around 100$ ?)
For the second one i could remove all plastic parts + rods + bearings. (around 200$ ?)
Re: Make custom kit command
Strategically that wouldn't be a good route for PR to take- the best parts of the engineering (bed, pinda, etc) are what sets it apart from the other kits. It's already open source. As for the costs, youre way high on the estimates for cost vs. resale values. Its the working package that makes PR money. rods, meh, $10, printed parts, 10$ more like. The high part of the costs are the rambo, pinda, hotend and bed. When you figure that into it, PR is making an honest profit; I'd expect the kit and factory built to be a bit more honestly.
Yeah, its that guy... 3D Nexus
Re: Make custom kit command
Yeah... Maybe you are right, i overprice those parts.
Alright, at the end it's not that bad.. I'm going to have spare bearings and rods :3
Thanks man !
I'm still not sure if i'm going to get one..
I buy stuff on a whim and it's doesn't always end well... 😕
