LCD issues

Hi, I have had a few issues with the LCD screen. Occasionally - especially when stopping a print the lcd screen will go blank or flash up random symbols. To go with this stopping the printer mid print will also randomly cause the print head to smash against the left hand side and grind away until the y stop is activated.

Any help would be appreciated.

thanks
Kerry

Re: LCD issues

A couple of others on the forum have reported similar issues. To my knowledge, the exact source wasn't isolated. In my own experience with other Arduino projects, those long LCD cables are QUITE prone to RF interference. Try changing the routing of the cables, and also try moving the printer to another area and see if you still have the same issues. If that fixes it, then perhaps a bit of cable shielding is in order.

Alternatively if you want to go right to shielding, you can do a crappy poor-man's shielding by wrapping the LCD wires with aluminum foil all the way down, and seeing if that changes anything.
