Layer shift issue
Check out the picture below. I get a layer shift when I print a particular code file sliced in prusa slicer. I have successfully printed this before. But my last 2 prints of this file have shifted. I am thinking maybe loose feat on the y-stepper? I can print the same part but less of them and it works fine so I am wondering if a fast travel speed would cause slippage?
Anyway. If anyone has seen this before and has an idea, I would love to hear it.
Re: Layer shift issue
Image isn't working but I'd like to see if this matches my problem with the Y-axis not staying aligned.
Re: Layer shift issue
I just had a Y-slippage issue on a really long print (overnight). I asked about it in the Prusa 3D slack chat and it was suggested that this can be caused by enabling silent mode. Apparently silent mode makes the steppers work harder which results in more heat which can result in "skipped steps". That makes sense to me so if you're currently running in silent mode try turning it off.
If you're *not* running in silent mode try checking your Y-idler bobbin thing and belt to see if it is too loose or too tight. If it's too loose that can obviously cause slippage but if it's too tight you can also have issues where the Y axis can "jump" or have side-by-side filament placement that looks more like ||| ||| ||| than ||||||||| (if that makes sense).
