Kit build y-motor mount broken

I'm not sure if it's was just a weak part with my kit, or if the heated bed was manually pushed back too hard at some point, but the y-motor mount piece to hold the Y stop broke on my printer after the second print. I don't know if there's a way to stress-test those more, it's just disappointing that my printer is already down after assembling and using it yesterday. I'm gluing and reinforcing the part with epoxy for later use, since it would be a big project to take it all apart again. The parts I was able to print before it broke look great, so I'm definitely happy with the quality of the printer!

Re: Kit build y-motor mount broken

you're not the first (and not the last) one with that problem. seems to be the weakest link. glue it back with acetone based glue (like uhu plast spezial).
at thingiverse you can find an improved y-motor holder.... but to install a new one, you'll need to disassemble the whole x-y assembly 🙁
mine (fixed with glue) works more than 2 month now.

There is an improved mount out there. I don't have the location handy but will try to post it this evening if I can remember.

Y endstop actually doesn't have to be mounted at that position. It can be mounted anywhere where it reliably triggers zero position in Y axis. You can design your own mount rig which snaps on y-frame screws without disassembly, just use your imagination and creativity. 🙂 And don't forget to post it on thingiverse. 😆
