Issues printing layer1
Hello to all,
I'm having an issue printing the first layer of a spinner I'm trying to print. Only the first print was completed succesfully.
Let's explain what I've done.
1. Printed some "bearing cap for fidget spinners" with double colors, all went well ( http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2083000 )
2. Printed the first "M8 Hexnut-Flower Fidget Spinner" ( http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2125890 ). All went well, here the first layer (that on contact with the bed surface):
But trying to insert a M8 hexnut it was to tight, so I've decided to resize it by 102%.
3. Printed the second Spinner and, during the INIT (checking 9 pos) I've got an INIT error. I've calibrated XYZ and the error disappear. Even if I've done the XYZ calibration, the printer tells me I need to follow the first calibration steps. BTW the INIT (calibration 9 points) went well and the print starts. BTW that is the result:
4. Thinking it's a resize issue (100%->102%) I've tried to re-print the 100% version (same GCODE point one) but same result.
It happens only on layer1. The top layer is OK. What could be the cause?
Does it has something to do with the calibration?

Your z-adjust value is in need of some attention....
Not sure what is going on with the calibration. The only good reason to run the V2calibration procedure from the original SD card is to get rid of the reminder that calibration is incomplete.
Once you have run the V2calibration, adjust the 'Live z adjust' while printing the first layer of some not too tiny object, so you can see what is happening.
You can also print your object with a generous brim (10mm wide or more), that gives you lots of time to do live z-adjust before the actual print of the part starts.

I'll start with a perfect clean of my printingbed, then I'll make a new calibration and print the V"calibration.

to find the perfect live z-adjustment level, i recommend this thread.
by the way: once you've discovered the right adjustment value for your build, you don't need to change it at every print. only when you change the nozzle and/or the height of the pinda probe, you'll have to find the correct value again.

After cleaning WELL the surface, a XYZ calibration and then a Live Z calibration, I've solved the issue 🙂
