i3 Mk2s shopping list and software advice
Hello Everyone,
I thought i would ask for some advice on here before purchasing in case i have missed anything out. We are just about to order a mk2s kit and wanted to ask if there was any additional items we should order with it to get us going and what people recommend software wise?
I am coming over from an m3d printer and i am a time served toolmaker so have CAD experience etc but have not applied it heavily to 3D printing yet. I produced a few drawings on oneshape for our aerial business and literally threw them at the m3d with acceptable results so thats about as much experience as i have.
I would be really grateful if someone could give me a list of items needed to get going based on what people have found suits this printer best. When i mean items i mean any parts additional we should purchase i have not thought of, what free drawing software people recommend/ all associated software to get this printing and anything we need we may not have. For now we are only looking at basic one color prints and im more concerned about producing reasonable quality.
I have a wealth of tools for the build and CNC maintenance experience so i am not fearing the build thankfully.
Lastly is there any spools people recommended to purchase with the unit? I have only every worked with PLA but would like to try abs and some acetone smoothing?

I also came from an M3D and I think you will enjoy your experience with the Prusa. Your choice of the kit is the way to go if you want to understand how all the pieces fit together. As for extra tools/accessories, I can't think of much you would need that isn't included with the machine. You will want a round edged spatula for removing prints from the bed, I would also suggest printing up a new spool holder (I didn't like the one that comes with the system).
You should be able to use any extra filament you have left from your M3D. I would suggest giving PETG filaments a try if you are looking for something new.
I've been using OnShape to design things with good results, however, I still use OpenSCAD for some designs that OnShape just can't handle.
When you get your kit, make sure to look through the assembly manual, but open up the online manual and read the comments there, they are quite helpful.

I also changed fromM3D Micro to Prusa.
I had the Micro for 1 month before ordering the Prusa.
I was really disappointed with the Micro.
It now sits under my desk.

I too upgraded from an M3D to the Prusa.
