Heatbed Thermistor Replacement

Hello everyone,

I got my Original Prusa i3 Mk2 about 2 months ago and it was printing relatively well.
Recently I noticed some problems with the heatbed temperature and I then I found that the heatbed thermistor was detached from the heatbed.

But even worse: The heatbed thermistor snapped in half at its tip while I was trying to untangle the cables.

Basically I need to completely swap out my heatbed thermistor, and I am willing to do so, but I have not found much about this particular problem on the internet / this forum here yet. Most posts are about the hotend thermistor, and besides links to replacement parts there is nothing that can answer all my questions.

1.) The new thermistor that I want to buy would be this one: http://shop.prusa3d.com/en/mk2-spare-parts/145-es3.html
However, this one has a cartridge, and mine did not have one, so I am unsure whether this is the right part for it.

2.) I removed the original foil/tape/something that was holding the thermistor in place (picture attached)
It seems that the thermistor must be put exactly on this point, but how can I do that when using the cartridge one? How do I know which part of the cartridge has to be on it? The tip?

3.) What is the name of the foil/tape/something that was used to secure the thermistor? Where can I find it? Or is there an even better alternative to secure the thermistor, so it won't fall off again for sure?

This is basically my first time repairing the i3Mk2 on this level, so I am very grateful for every help I can get!

Re: Heatbed Thermistor Replacement

I just got help by the support team, they were very helpful and answered all my questions.
In case anyone ever has the same problems I just want to share what I learned here very quickly.

The heatbed thermistor is (currently) not listed on the shop, this item here ( http://shop.prusa3d.com/en/mk2-spare-parts/145-es3.html ) can be bought instead, but you need to attach a note to your order, stating that you want the thermistor specifically for your heatbed.

To secure the thermistor, "Kapton tape" is used and you can attach a note to your order stating that you need it and they will ship a small piece of tape aswell. But I also found it relatively cheap on the internet, so it should be no problem to attach the new thermistor more securely.

Hope it helps 🙂
