Filament melted around extruder wiring - how to remove safely?

Came in to find this mess. Any recommendations on how we remove this melted filament without damaging the wiring? One of our student suggested using a blow dryer and tweezers, but wanted to consult with you all first.

If the hot end will heat, heat it to the plastic temp used before (or a bit higher), and use needle nose pliers to gently pull it off.

If you cannot (wires broken) us a heat gun to soften the plastic and carefully remove with needle nose pliers.

There are wires under that. The thermistor wires are very fragile and will break if you pull to hard or fast. Easy to replace, but best to avoid if you can.

This was likely caused by the print coming loose from the bed during the print - setting a good Live Z value and cleaning the bed properly are the ways to ensure this does not happen in the future. Read this:

Probably a bit late, but here goes.

If you remove the fans, just leave them hanging on wires, you can loosen the screws from the side where the belts are and remove the front.

This will give you better access to remove the filament.
