Drivers 1.7.6 with Slic3r Prusa Edition

UPDATE: newer version of drivers is out, more here http://shop.prusa3d.com/forum/original-prusa-i3-mk2-f23/drivers-1-7-7-with-slic3r-prusa-edition-t4479.html

Hi guys,
New drivers 1.7.6. are out including updated Slic3r Prusa edition 1.33.8!

Josef wrote an article about the new features of Slic3r PE, read it here:
http://www.prusaprinters.org/smooth-variable-layer-height-awesome-supports-slic3r-prusa-edition/

Let me just summarize most important changes:
- Smooth Variable Layer Height (SVLH): now you can easily adjust layer height along the height. Why? To save hours of printing time! Dive in the article to read more 😉

- Improved supports: our Slic3r magician Vojtech made several tweaks in the code, so the supports are now generated much faster and their structure is improved. This enables amazing quality of printed surfaces. Take a look at the bull in the article to see for yourself 🙂

- Slicing info: after the g-code is generated a box will appear in the lower right corner to show amount of used filament, its weight and price. To make things work, just head in Slic3r to tab Filament settings and fill in „Density“ and „Cost“.

Also don’t forget to update your MK2 with new firmware:

Yes, I've been using this and it's great! No issues for now. 🙂 Even the support generation that used to be my biggest issue with Slic3r have been working fine! 🙂

Thanks for feedback guys. I've used Slic3r last two days and the improvements in speed and stability compared to the previous version are pretty visible 😎

The supports are almost perfect. I still have a problem on support next to the outsides of curves. They tend to melt to the part. But this is with the default parameters.

Yesterday I printed a small stormtrooper:
http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1746191
I printed it 2-2.5cm tall, upright, at 0.1mm layer height with the Prusa Silver PLA. It was completely surrounded with supports, but they came out reasonably well.

I'm very impressed. Slic3r is getting better and better 😀

Thanks. We are working on some major parallelization of all time consuming slicing tasks. On my 4 core computer one can easily see a 3x speed up.

Yes there is a Slic3r for linux ( https://github.com/prusa3d/Slic3r/releases ). It is just not part of the driver package.

How come the about box for the Slic3r software still says 1.33.8
Ended up installing the software several times before finally realizing the 1.7.6 version was installed.
Please correct the about box!

Hi Robert,
I'm sorry for the confusion, but I think it is correct. You installed drivers package 1.7.6. and part of this package is Slic3r Prusa Edition 1.33.8.
I'm currently running beta 1.34... but if there are any issues, let me know and I will downgrade to check it.

Thanks
Jakub

Yeah my fault should not have read so fast 1.7.6 is driver package and 1.33.8 is slic3r edition.
Now I feel like a real idiot.
