Drivers 1.7.5 RC2 with Slic3r Prusa Edition (Updated 18 Nov)

Hi guys, I just finished building the 1.7.5 drivers! It was a lot of work on tweaking the SW and accompanying settings 🙂

I am uploading it here for you to test it out before it goes online on the web. If you manage to find any bugs, please ping me here 🙂

Update 18.11.2016 - Faster Slic3r 🙂
RC2 version of drivers here:
Win: http://prusa3d.com/downloads/drivers/prusa3d_win_1_7_5_rc2.exe
Mac: http://prusa3d.com/downloads/drivers/prusa3d_mac_1_7_5_rc2.zip

Slic3r Prusa Edition is now used for MK2
New 0.15mm Optimal settings for MK2
Use of Cubic infill in all settings for MK2

Full change log of the Slic3r can be found here.
https://github.com/prusa3d/Slic3r/releases/tag/version_1.31.2

*Feel free to test Prusa Edition with MK1 by copying contents of Slic3rPE64b to Slic3r64b ind Program files. We now don't have capacity to run enough tests for me to release it, but it should work nicely.

Can we install right over the 174 install? Or do we need to uninstall anything first?

Yeah you can. I always make sure it is possible to do that.

Excellent! Been using the "beta" for now and so far so good. I am used to S3D on my other printers so this is a learning curve with Slic3r!

on the drivers page why Linux users are redirected to the official Slic3r page instead to the prusa edition? Also would be nice to link somewhere to the config bundle instead of having to download the Mac package just for the .ini file.

Thanks and keep up with the great work!

Thanks Josef!!! Other than loving my printer I am so glad I chose your product. Worth every penny and then some.

I was looking at a "commercial" printer yesterday that I will refrain from stating, and the printer cost $3400!!! The layers were awful and there was a Y-Axis shift in it on multiple layers. I was shocked. I immediately thought how smart of a choice I made in buying your printer!!!

Thanks for the update!

Has anyone else noticed this kind of problem with infill after the update? On the right is a piece of part that I printed yesterday with Slic3r 1.7.4 and on the left is a part that I printed today with the new Slic3r 1.7.5.

We are working on have them packaged for most distributions. Feel free to add notes here https://github.com/prusa3d/Slic3r

Once I get driver building automated I will provide the config bundles. But right now I do them by hand and this means one more thing which I can mess up 🙂

It seems you don't use our settings from the release which are updated for new Slic3r. New settings have cubic infill for example.

I did notice the new infills after update (and from changelog), but I changed the infill type to the same as on my yesterdays print. So as far as I know, I'm using the new settings.

Re: Drivers 1.7.5 with Slic3r Prusa Edition

Thank you for including a 0.15mm layer profile!

Yesterday I was trying to print a BeQui (toy articulated robot) and the description says 0.15 layers.
My own attempt at making a profile just didnt work right, and yours is perfect.

Thats service! delivering even before I had time to request such a profile 😛
I have to say, having well made profiles for the printer is really a major thing that should be praised more often.

Also, I'm using Slic3r on linux, and the version from last sunday builds without problems on debian testing.

love the update

just one thing i use octoprint and slic3r works great with it but slic3r dos not save the ip or api when closing down

i have sort of done a work a round save a confi file with it in and load this file when you load slic3r not very good way round
as slic3r should save it automaticly when you have input the ip and api

but great set of drivers and ini files really likeing cubic infill

Alan,

I will put it on my list.

Do you get a crash when opening the discovery dialog as another customer reported?

Thanks, Vojtech

I have added an issue into the git tracker
https://github.com/prusa3d/Slic3r/issues/37

The next time you find some bug in Slic3r, please don't hesitate to enter the issue into the issue tracker.
https://github.com/prusa3d/Slic3r/issues/

It makes my life and Slic3r development planning easier.

Thanks, Vojtec

Re: Drivers 1.7.5 RC2 with Slic3r Prusa Edition (Updated 18 Nov)

Was the spiral vase mode changed or did I just change a setting? 🙂

In the previous version the spiral vase mode would slowly go up during the layer, then move down again very quickly. This would happen at the same point in every layer for some vertical single-walled tubes. This resulted in a small aligned z-seam in the print. Tubes were not airtight around the seam, meaning I applied a thin layer of superglue to seal it.

I'm printing another single-walled tube vertically and it seems different - just smooth slow z-moves, no seam visible at all. Looks like it's better than before.

Re: Drivers 1.7.5 RC2 with Slic3r Prusa Edition (Updated 18 Nov)

Thanks for making this update available!

I'm using Slic3r in Ubuntu, but I'm not well versed in Linux.

I understand I need to download the MAC drivers, find the .ini file and then open Slic3r and "Load config bundle".

My question is: Will all my customised filament and print setting be over-written if I import the new .ini file?

Is it possible to have them both available or would my customised profiles not work after the new "Load config bundle" has modified Slic3r?

I found part of the answer I'm looking for: I can "Export config bundle" my current setting before importing the new lot. In the unlikely case that the new settings are no good, I can go back to what I'm used to.

Re: Drivers 1.7.5 RC2 with Slic3r Prusa Edition (Updated 18 Nov)

I used "Load config bundle" to import the new mk2_Slic3r_prusa3d_1_7_5.ini file into Slic3r running within Ubuntu.

Mt old customised Print settings, Filament Settings and Printer Settings are still there, alongside some new Print Settings.

However, there is no 'Cubic Infill' to be found anywhere.

What am I missing?
