Difficulty extruding

I had recently changed my nozzle to a hardened steel nozzle and after installation I started having oozing problems with plastic coming out of the wrong places and bad prints using the hardened steel nozzle. So it took me a while to realize that the heat sink was screwed in too far and the nozzle not screwed in enough. I fixed that problem and now my extruder struggles to push out plastic. There is no blockage, I have checked it and it is clear all the way through. I can force plastic through if I use my hand to help it along when loading filament, but it is very difficult to extrude and the printer makes squeaky sounds as it extrudes.

I am assuming my PTFE tube is damaged somehow, am I thinking along the correct lines or am I wrong? I have some spare PTFE tube, but in order to change it I have to completely disassemble the extruder, this is a difficult task and I don't want to do it unless I am confident that I have diagnosed the problem correctly.

Re: Difficulty extruding

Hi Hilmi

Changing the PTFE tube is not difficult but it does need to be done with some care as it is very easy to break the thermistor wires.

It may not be the tube causing the problem so I would suggest that first you try replacing the brass nozzle, ensuring that it is assembled correctly and properly tightened.

If the problem continues, then it probably does require a re-assembly of the extruder.

Thank you for the suggestion, I did try re-installing the original nozzle and the same problem is there. So I returned the hardened steal nozzle. I guess I can try tonight and see what I can come up with.

What material and temp are you using? Did you check to make sure the little spring screws for the filament is nice and tight? I had an issue with it not extruding as it was slipping .

Hilmi

You may want to try increasing the temperature by 10 to 15 degrees to see if that helps.
