Good luck replacing your PEI 🙂

I use my third sheet now.

Tipp: Use your finger to smoothen it out and start on the bottom edge with the stuff.

Did a replacement today too (fw update to 3.0.8 completely ruined my calibration, the nozzle dug into the PEI while adjusting the Z offset).

Used a windshield scraper to clean the goo off the PCB (twice let limonene D soaked paper loosen the adhesive), then after most of it was off wiped it clean with a ball of soaked paper.

Don't forget your safety goggles and gloves though, that stuff is toxic.

Applying the replacement sheet is a breeze if you use some tape to help with the alignment, then it's little to no different from properly applying a mobile phone screen protector.

Re: D Limonene

Its much easier then a mobile screen protector which I hate with a passion doing. No air bubbles so I was super happy with the result.

It made my bin smell lovely and it still does days after. Worth doing and not as hard as it may seem. The bed looks gorgeous without the PEI sheet on so worth changing it just to say youve seen the naked bed. 😮 😀

The steps are pretty much the same for a protector or PEI sheet though. Any task is easy with sufficient preparation and patience.
Perform this in a damp area like a bathroom, this keeps (too much)dust from floating around and potentially getting between your protector/sheet and the phone/bed.

  • (for phones)First clean the screen with an alcoholic swab, then remove any remaining drops with a cloth like is usually supplied with them. These bad boys usually don't leave any particles on the screen.

  • (applies to PEI sheet too)Without removing either films from the protector, position it over the device until it's perfectly aligned. Tape the protector to the device on the side you want to start from.(usually the side that has the pulltabs). Simple office tape will do just fine. You want thin tape for this.

  • (applies to PEI sheet too)With the protector now aligned, flip it and pull back a small bit of the first film (or the adhesive protector for the sheet) from the edge where it's taped to the phone or bed, just enough so you can keep dragging the film.

  • (applies to PEI sheet too) Flip the protector back and start pushing it down onto the screen in a waving motion (parallel to the tape you applied) using your finger or a plastic card, while simultaneously gently pulling back the film. This way you minimize the amount of time the bottom of the sheet or protector gets exposed to thin air.

  • (phone only!!!) on the off chance you do get a bubble, lift back just a tiny little and repeat the strokes over that area (this is the step you can't do with the PEI sheets because of the adhesive)

  • When you reach the end, just remove the top film and you should have applied a glass or plastic screenprotector (or PEI sheet) with zero bubbles.

  • Whenever I use this approach, I end up with zero bubbles on phones, tablets,....

That, or use a wet-applied screenprotector on your phone 😉 But glass screenprotectors are so much more pleasant to use and barely get scratches.

I will totally agree with you on the tempered glass screen protectors, They were lovely the last time I used them.
