Calibration

Hello,

I use the last beta firmware.
I want to try the fonction : Calibrate Bed
Someone coud said me in french language what is the translation for : Calibrating bed. "Move Z carriage up to the end stopper".

I understand :"Déplacer le chariot Z jusqu'à la butée d'extrémité"

But when i start the Z carriage seems to move up to end stopper automaticly. Is it possible ?

Hi Marc

Yes, it is possible for the Z axis to rise. When it hits the stops at the top of the printer, the Z axis will then be aligned, ready for the bed calibration.

Thanx PJR,

That's ok with English but i need to understand and i need to be sure 🙂 i don't want break my Prusa. I never have a Prusa like this. All the world must buy an original Prusa 🙂
You could see ii have a French Blog who talking about 3dprinter. I want help French users to use 3d printer simply.

I have nothing to stop the Z axis at the top of the printer. Is this good or i made a mistake ?

No, just move it up until it hits Z-axis-top corner printed parts and motors start skipping steps. It makes awful sound, but it is the only method to achieve perfect alignment.

I just try. But at 2/4 my extruder crash on my hotbed like i don't have a Probe. I have this problem sometimes. My probe seems not work.
Do you have an idea ?

Is your mechanical setup ok? Bottom of the autoprobe should be 1-2mm higher than extruder nozzle. If it is much higher, extruder nozzle crashes into bed during Z-calibration. If it is much lower, autoprobe can crash into printed object during printing.

Arg, I think I lost my long answer 🙁

Anyway you should start by checking that both side of your frame have the same distance from the support. Easiest way to achieve that is to remove the 4 pads below the 4 corners, then use same amount of business card under each side of the frame (4 or 5 is fine) and loosen then tighen the two M12 screws holding the frame. Once that is done, ensure that you move the extruder to the top after each switch-on of the printer (unpowered motors does not hold the threads anymore and both side of the Z-axis may end at different position. Then you can do the bed calibration.

Bonjour Marc, j'étais sur d'avoir réponde mais le message s'est perdu semble-t'il 🙁

Bref tu devrais commencer par vérifier que le cadre vertical est bien droit. Le plus simple est de retirer les mousse sous les 4 coins, de poitionner un petit tas de cartes de visite (4 ou 5) sous chaque coté du cadre vertical, de desserer et resserer les écrous qui le maitiennent. Ensuite lorsque l'imprimante est éteinte, les moteurs Z ne tiennent plus les tiges filletées de l'axe Z, qui peuvent se décaller de façon différentes à droite et à gauche. Donc après chaque allumage de l'imprimante, monte l'extrudeur jusqu'en haut, pour que les deux coté s'arrêtent en butée sur les écrous qui tiennent les deux support du heut. L'axe X sera alors bien aligné.

Ensuite tu peux lancer la procédure de calibration du lit. Si tu as encore des soucis, n'hésite pas.

In addition, as I said in my PM, double-check the GT2 pulleys, there's a possibility one is loosen a bit, giving unpredictable calibration issues but tightened enough to print properly with moderate acceleration.

Hi marc

You can check that the y-axis frame is a perfect rectangular shape. I had a similar problem I could solve by fixing the rectangle.

Also during the Z calibration, be sure the tinda probe goes exactly inside the target circle. Mine was hafllf inside and half outside before I fixed the Y-axis and I had sometimes issues with the nozzle crashing on the bed. Now, the calibration is good and all my problems are gone 🙂

That's ok. All is fine now. I use V2calibration Gcode and LiveAdjust. It is fabulous 🙂 Big Thanx !!
