Bed heating problem

Sorry if this has already been asked, but I couldn't find it in the archives.

I have an issue with preheating the print bed. I just purchased and assembled and i3 MK2S and have really been enjoying it. My only problem is with printing ABS because I need higher bed temperatures (default is 100 deg, though I've seen suggestions of up to 110 deg). My print bed seems to top out around 98 deg and through a PREHEAT ERROR.

Anyone have any thoughts of things I can check?

Thanks,
Mark

Re: Bed heating problem

I can report the same error at ~97° bed temperature. Just assembled it and was printing PLA for one week without any issues. Yesterday I wanted to try my first print with ABS and I am always getting preheat errors at around 95-97° bed temperature. Already checked all connections and also did slightly increase the voltage of the PSU from 12.15 to 12.35 without any effect. Still preheat error at 97°..

Any suggestions?

Re: Bed heating problem

Same problem here, up to 95° no problem but with 100°C preheat error.
In my case the bed does go to 100° while preheating but when the printer starts checking the 9 points the error appear.
Just a guess : When the motors starting using power the heat bed fails.

Hope on a solution for this.

Thanks, Luc.

ps: Got my printer from yesterday 😛

Re: Bed heating problem

This same thing is happening to me on my MK2S kit. I simply cannot get the bed to heat up more than 35 degrees. Any ideas on how to fix this?

Re: Bed heating problem

I have the same issue, except I can get mine to 105, and almost 110, but it gets the error before I can print.

I've managed to get it to go at 105, but I'm getting some lifting, so I wanted to go higher with the bed to see if I could make it stick more.

It doesn't seem like an issue with it getting hot, because the sensor is telling me its that hot, just that it gets the preheat error...

Brand new MK2S that I've only had for about 4 days, and that works great with PLA, but I'm trying some ABS now...

Re: Bed heating problem

Same problem here with abs. Its a brand new mk2s kit. Prints fine with pla but when ive tried printing with abs today, the bed shuts off during 9 point calibration displaying a preheat error, then displays a 0° heatbed value. It seems to be having problems getting the bed to 100°. Even before trying to print, preheating for abs will give the same problem. It has got up to 98° max but after it fails to get to temperature, preheating will keep failing & the bed temperature will keep getting lower & lower. Im guessing faulty heat bed 🙁
