My prints adhere to the bed, and they turn out pretty well. But the first layer gives me problems. So I used Jeff's "Life Z" file and played with live Z adjustment to try to figure out what is going on. Weirdness ensued.

If you look at the attached photo, you'll see two Life Z prints, at different Z settings. The one on the left is what I thought should be about the right setting. The one on the right is at a higher setting, obviously too high.

What's striking is the consistency of the irregularities. The exact same pattern is printed both times, just at different Z heights.

There are areas that look about right, and then areas where the plastic piles up and gets ragged.

I've washed the bed with Dawn, rinsed and dried it, then wiped it down with IPA. I've surfaced it with a dry dishwashing sponge to remove material. Still the same result.

So I'm looking for some understanding of what's happening, and how to correct it.

My extruder will print fine for the first few layers, but then the layers become thin and broken before the filament stops coming out. The hotend will stay hot and the extruder motor turns correctly, but the filament is visibly not moving through. I checked all of my electrical connectors and adjusted the bearing tension, but the problem persists. I have been having this problem since I changed my PLA spool from "Galaxy Black" to "Orange". See the included photos of the bit holder I have been trying to print. The bit holder has two halves that will be joined together when completed. The galaxy black spool printed the first object fine, but the orange spool seems to be having trouble with the other half. My theory is that because of the complexity of each layer, the extruder is retracting too quickly and too frequently, causing the gear to chew into the filament and preventing further movement. Any ideas? Has anyone had this problem?

Sorry for the long title but I have a very rare dilemma I'm dealing with here. My MK2S was very good at printing until a recent giant blob formed around the extruder, this is the 3rd time it has happened. I knew that if I didn't get new parts the plastic could drip down causing it to interfere with the probe. So I decided to print "New" parts for my printer and I saw an option to upgrade my parts from "MK2S" to "MK2.5". I thought this would benefit me since an upgrade means better parts and I thought "It's an upgrade specifically designed to turn the MK2S' extruder parts to Mk2.5 extruder parts. Which means that to upgrade it, all I have to do is print the parts and reassemble them!" Boi was a wrong :( , because today I just figured out that you need non 3D printed parts to do the upgrade. However I'm afraid that I can't reassemble it since it since the out-of-the-box parts are almost broken.

With my whole life story in mind I'm seeking answer to the following questions below.

- Where can I get the metal parts to complete the upgrade that are not listed in the store?
- Should I use the MK2.5 parts or stick with the OG parts?

P.S. The whole point of this project was to repair and make "Better Parts" for my MK2S.

P.S.S. If you need any pictures or videos let me know , I had to make this topic quickly.
