Under extrusion problem?

Hi! This is my first 3D printer and it is just awesome! Just love it 🙂

I'm having a problem with my MM setup. Before upgrading it did this great. Now I feel like the 0.35 mm height is a bit to much for it.

I wanted to print a frame for my raspberry pi touch screen and before the MM upgrade I used the draft setting (0.35 mm) in Slic3r. It was awesome.
Now after upgrading to MM the first layer is perfect but after that it's no good. The lines aren't touching/fusing, and the extruder is doing a clicking noise (I guess it's skipping over the fillament). Any ideas?

Gonna try and use a 0.6mm nozzle, as I've read that layer height should be at least 80% or lower than the nozzle width. Could that be the issue?

Best regards Tom

Also greetings from Slovenia to Peter and everyone else 🙂

Re: Under extrusion problem?

Greetings...

75% nozzle width is the best maximum height, but you can push to 80%.

With a 0.6mm nozzle, be aware that you will reach the melt limit of the V6 if you are printing at 450 micron layers. So no faster than 30mm/s and hope that the Festos don't give up. (Speak to the very nice folks at Festo.si in Trzin about getting some spares - delivery time is 2 weeks - part number 153304).

Hi!

Thanks, I'll give them a call 🙂

From your answer I'm guessing the issue is indeed to much material trying to get through the nozzle? And because ti can't push enough the lines aren't fusing?

Re: Under extrusion problem?

Completely confused now. Spent the whole night trying to fix it with the 0.6 mm nozzle. It looked horrible in certain materials. I then went back to 0.4 mm because the speed was not worth it, even though I normally just print boxes.

Anyways I went back to 0.4 as I said and decided to try Prusa Control.
0.35 mm layer height now printing without a problem.

What gives? How does Slic3r manage to under extrude and make the extruder skip on the filament but Prusa Control does it great?

PS: also I think my heat bed is bent. The corners area always horrible. Lower left is just the worst. And then the middle is OK and the right corner faulty again.

Slicer nad Prusa Control draft settings are slightly different.
Slicer draft settings are historicaly more of a "rough draft" settings, while Prusa Control draft settings were tuned more towards usability, but with longer print time.

These settings are to be unified in the future.
