Print sequentiell in different colors ?

Hi there,

is there a way to print sequentiell in differrent colors with the MM instead all at once ?
I need a "color copy mode". Means i have model and want to print it in four different colors - one after one - in a print job.
All four models together have place on the bed.

The idea behind is to save filament and reduce the wipe tower in that case. If i print all four models in different colors in one job - all at once - the nozzle need to clean the filament every model and every layer-> big wipe tower.
One after one (sequentiell) theoretically need only four times a nozzle clean (after every model). -> small wipe tower

Sound´s easy and is more logically to me instead every minute a color change for the extruder and building a big wipe tower.

It is not working so far.
- I enabled the sequentiell options in Slic3r - but the filament is not retracted before it switch over to the second extruder.
- The filament is not clean because of the missing "mini" wipe tower. The nozzle clean could be done in front of the model on one layer1, instead on a big wipe tower.

Is it just a stupid idea or some realistic that need some litte adjustment ?

Thanks!

As I understand it, so take this with a grain of salt, you can print four items four distinct and separate colors but the wipe tower is still generated because it has to build up as the other layers build up. I don't think you can print one model, purge, print model two, purge, and so on.

But with the correct g-code you may be able to. This is all just a guess on my limited experience.

Hi neal.w2 and thanks for your answer.

Did not found any slicer that can handle the multicolor as sequentiell print so far.

I still don´t think that i need on big wipe tower for such a simple job. The Nozzle need to get down to layer one again to print the second, third or fourth model. So on the front of the bed or directly in front of the model could the nozzle clean the old filament.

Didn´t thought that it is so complex to print 4 models in four different colors one after one.
Seems like i need to create four single files and and change the extruder in every gcode. Then print the four files.

Actually, with the latest version of Slic3r you use the Single mode option and it should prompt you which extruder to use at the start of the print. Load the four colors you want, print the first and remove it from the bed, then print the second and chose a different extruder, and so on. You only need to create one file this way.

Re: Print sequentiell in different colors ?

The scenario you described (printing multiple objects with differing colors) is not supported by our Slic3r. The wipe tower is only supported for non-sequential prints as of now.

I understand your request and it indeed makes sense, but it adds a lot of complexity into the software and we do not have the resources to implement your request as of now.
