Multi Material Choice
Sorry for posting a newbie question, but I've just completed the MMU upgrade. I want to attempt to print the beaver and have a question. I see the figure is only 3 colors, but the directions ask for all four extruders to be used. Does that mean for instance, I need to use two spools of white filament? Why can't I simply use three?
Re: Multi Material Choice
Hi Quentin,
Welcome to the Forum,
May i suggest starting with some simpler small models, to acquaint yourself with the printer before going for a more complex model
best wishes, joan

Re: Multi Material Choice
Hi,
you are probably talking about my "Ace the Beaver" MM model. There are 4 colors on the model (see photo): Green, White, Ivory (belly and ears), Black.
Re: Multi Material Choice
You can just point the same extruder at more than one part. No need ever for more than one of the same material or color. It will only use the extruders you tell it to, so if you use only two on this model, it will print with two etc. Enjoy yourself. You will be learning a lot quickly and ways to optimize the process and choice of materials and colors which speed things up if just thought of ahead of time. Each one is like a little engineering challenge to optimize. You will also soon figure out that you can print 10 of a small object and have the same size waste block. Kinda stinks when your proof comes out correct and you wanted more. The more time spent upfront in choice, model design, and number of extruders, the more it pays off later (20+ hours later in some cases)
