Multi color print without purge block?
I was asking myself how I should print out a multi coloured model with 4 different colors without the purge block with my new MMU extruder. (Like I used to print it with the Colorprint App and the old 1-filament extruder and changing the filament manually several times).
How can this be achieved automatically with the MMU without the purge block?

I believe you can use color print with the MMU if you have the downloaded version although I admit I've never done it.
I was tinkering around with the idea of doing different colors further up the print of each extruder in order to get more than 4 colors but it has been on the back burner recently due to other projects.

Ahhh. just the downloaded or also the online version of ColorPrint?
Background: I think that the downloaded version (the app that comes with each Slic3r version) - at least for the Mac has some severe bugs, it doesn't work for me and is buggy. Wondering when this will be addressed)

The purge block only serves to make sure that the old filament is gone when the new one needs to be printed, that there is no color bleed and that your new filament has had its initial "purge run" so it extrudes nicely on the model.
If you want to print without a purge block I predict you'll have underextrusion at every color change, plus some uneven filament. The purge block does the equivalent of a skirt when you start a single color print.
Now, if you really want to you could always generate gcode with comments, and write a postprocessor script that removes all the purge block stuff and replaces if with just a color change.
