Finishing ABS Print, Starting PLA Print

Hi-
I finished printing a small one-color ABS print without issue. When I went to load the PLA print, I brought the hotend to 255 and attempted to unload the ABS filament from E4. The filament jammed and I determined the jam was from a bulb end into the stainless steel tubes.

Two questions:

1. Should the printer immediately retract all filaments at the end of a print in order to avoid this while the active filament is still relatively soft?

2. What is the proper way to clear the nozzle of any ABS while switching to PLA? Do I run some PLA through at ABS temps? Is this necessary?

Thanks,
-Tom

1. I find that doing this prevents future issues. It is easily programmed in the End G-code.

2. I think that what you have suggested is fine.
