Do I have to preload the first filament?
Weird behavior with the MMU. If I "Load to Nozzle" the first filament in a print, the MMU and MK3S are well behaved. If, however, no filament is loaded, I get this behavior:
1) Filament loads to nozzle (Good)
2) Printer does Z height check (Good)
3) Printer resets.
The behavior and set up are not intermittent. It is very consistent.
Am I on drugs or is the printer/MMU visiting Colorado these days?
RE: Do I have to preload the first filament?
right at the start, I load all filaments to the MMU, not the nozzle, then set the print to run, heating begins, and when the printer starts, it does the mesh bed level, moves to the front of the bed, left hand side, pauses, advances the first filament, and prints a prime line, then prints the purge tower base base, then the outline, then starts the print area, then when it's time to change filaments, the extruder retires to the purge tower, retracts the last filament, wipes it's nozzle on the waste pile, pauses, advances the next filament, wipes the mixed colours on the purge tower and returns to the job in hand, no trips to Colarado no passport control...

RE: Do I have to preload the first filament?
If your printer resets it's because your FINDA isn't seeing filament but the printer senor is. Check and/or adjust your FINDA.
RE: Do I have to preload the first filament?
(and your IR sensor)
RE: Do I have to preload the first filament?
OK. The IR sensor is good. Quadruple checked, ('cuz double checking isn't good enough), both with a test filament, and with the diagnostics. The reset on FINDA fail is interesting. I'll let you know what I find.
