Sd Card Errors

Hi Guys,

Havent printed for a few weeks.Turned machine on noticed during initialization a line of circles before the main imfo was shown.Inser the sd card and it says

card inserted.Went into menu to load model and it says NO SD. SD cards are ok tried on other readers all reading ok. Cant say i have seen the row of circles before.

Can anyone tell me what maybe wrong.Everything was fine the last time i used it.I have reformatted the disk and ensured it had a valid Gcode file.

Thanks and any comments would be appreciated.

Regards

Les

Try cleaning the pins in the card slot first - they are hidden and it's easy to forget they might pick up dust or grease...

If no improvement, come back and we'll dig deeper.

RE: Sd Card Errors

Hi,

Thanks for replying,no differnce after cleaning pins and checking all pins are same height. Is the sd card interface on the lcd motherboard?I see Prusa

dont list the motherboard as a spare part. What puzzles me is this row of o's during startup of the i3.

I look forward to any further suggestions.

You can buy the lcd mother board on prusa https://www.prusa3d.com/product/lcd-unit/ I saw on a post a while back not about the o's but about it saying no SD card in https://forum.prusa3d.com/forum/original-prusa-i3-mk3s-mk3-hardware-firmware-and-software-help/fix-for-sd-card-reader-error-no-card/#post-659917 look at where they bend the finger down try doing that

Please help me out by downloading a model it's free and easy but really helps me out https://www.printables.com/@Hello_474427/models

RE: Sd Card Errors

Thanks Hello,

I will check that but my reader tells me when the card is inserted and removed so i think that switch is working correctly.

Its only when i go into the menu load from sd that it says no sd card.Did contact Prussa support and they suggested LCD replacement.

Still i will check out that switch anyway, nothing to lose.

Cheers

Thanks, done that as well.one thing i will do is to re crimp the cables,as these are insulation displacement connectors and can fail here.

Crimping may not be needed but checking ALL connections is a good idea.

FYI there are several special characters legal in computer filenames that are not recognised by the printer and the card is then incompletely recognised.

RE: Sd Card Errors

Thanks to all. I managed to find another micro sd card and that works ok.So the reader appears to be fussy.Admittedly the sd card i tried was fairly old.

It works perfectly in all the card readers i have. The original sd card that came with the printer(6 years ago) became corrupted and that what lead me trying

what sd cards i had.
