Prusa MK2S skipping while loading filament
Hi everyone,
I'm running a multi-color print. (No MMU, changing colors manually with an M600 command.)
I suddenly saw a new problem that I haven't seen in my 1.5 year ownership of this printer.
When loading the new filament, it'll start to load it, and then the extruder would occasionally skip steps and make a disturbing click.
Here's a video: https://www.dropbox.com/s/o5vkpij6btcfbf3/2018-10-18%2018.32.13.mp4?dl=0
The baffling thing is, that the filament isn't completely blocked. Some of it is coming out.
I tried disassembling the extruder idler and removing the filament. I used a metal rod to push down the tube any pieces of filament that are stuck there. That didn't help. I tried that again and again like 7 times. I also tried pushing filament manually, and I did see it on the other side.
After many attempts, I tried to just let the printer continue the print. But it quickly ruined the print, probably because the filament wasn't being extruded reliably.
Any idea what I can do?
Thanks for your help,
Ram Rachum.
Re: Prusa MK2S skipping while loading filament
ive done allot of manual filament changes. I swear the extruder motor get extra hot from doing it. and I am convinced that Is what was happening for me. I have added a fan on my extruder motor.
is it still "jammed'? or it only happens while doing filament changes?
I have a Prusa,therefore I research.

You might have a partial clog that the metal rod hasn't been able to dislodge. Try doing a few cold pulls and inspect the tip of the filament. It should be perfectly round, and conical towards the end.
