Previously working printer resets early in the print
Hi all,
I have been the happy owner of a MK2 since September 2017. It came in a kit and I assembled it. Latest stats show I printed for 51 days and used 89 km of filament. The printer has been working really well, with only minor issues like clogged extruder that I ended up fixing by reading posts on this forum.
Yesterday the printer started exhibiting a major problem. Soon after I start a print, the printer resets. The LCD goes blank and the print gets aborted. Most of the time it happens immediately after selecting the file from "Print from SD". Sometimes the reset happens while the printer is heating up. Sometimes the print starts and it resets during the first layer.
Here are the things I tried. After each of these steps, I tried printing again and the printer still resets.
Using the Settings menu to set the extruder temperature to 200 C works. The extruder heats up and I can use Settings -> Move axis -> Extruder to manually extrude some filament.
Using the Settings menu to set the bed temperature to 60 C by itself works. The bed heats up and holds the temperature.
Using the Settings menu to set both the bed temperature to 60 C and the extruder temperature to 200 C makes the printer resets less than 2 seconds after I set the 2nd temperature (doesn't matter which one I set first).
I suspect the power supply but I don't know how to check if it is operating properly.
Has anyone else seen this issue? Anything else you'd recommend I check in the printer?
Re: Previously working printer resets early in the print
From beginning of your post a suspect your power sources either. Looks like it don’t have enough power to handle this consumption. It is probably some capacitor which dries out in power supply.
Your diagnostic depends on your equipment. If you have multimeter (volt meter) you can measure voltage on the output of supply. If fall too low you rambo board will reset itself. If you have some possibility to test printer on other power supply like laboratory source, car battery etc. You can try it this way.

Re: Previously working printer resets early in the print
Thanks for the awesome suggestions Rosparovac!
I did have an additional 12 V 6A power supply. I connected it to the bed heater connection on the rambo board and left the stock power supply connected to the other power connection (board supply, motors, extruder, etc). The printer is able to print again so that confirms that the power supply has an issue.
I'll contact Prusa support about replacing the power supply.
