LCD screen was working, now it is not

Hello, I finished assembling my Mk2s and began the self test. After starting self test it would test for the hotend, flash "I" and "-" on LCD screen, then the LCD screen would restart and bring me back to home screen. However, one time it did give me a "self test error" end stop wiring error Z"

I unplugged the printer from the wall, and then unplugged the LCD ribbon cables from from the RAMBO box (so i could see if the wiring behind it was correct) to check that all cables were properly placed, which they were.

After this I powered the printer back on, and white blocks began to fill over the text as i scrolled the wheel. I tried to unplug and plug back in once more and..

Now the printer's LCD screen will not power on at all and I fear that the electronics unit is damaged and will need to replaced.

Am I going to need to replace the electronics unit in the RAMBO cover?

Most likely a blown fuse. There are 3 on the board plus one on the main power socket.

I would think it likely to be either the 15 Amp or one of the 5 Amps on the RAMBo. Once you determine which fuse is blown, then you can determine the cause (again, most likely is a short on one of the heaters). Fix that before replacing the fuse.

Hello Peter, thanks for the prompt response and sorry for double post 😳 ! I think you are correct that is likely a blown fuse.

How do i determine which fuse is blown?

Also, how would i fix the short on the heater? I am a little bit confused by what this means.

Thank you again in advance for you help 😀

The 3 fuses on the RAMBo are standard spade fuses like you have in cars.

You cannot always tell by looking at the fuse as to whether it is blown or not. Best to use some sort of continuity test (digital mulitmeter, "magic" screwdriver, or even a battery and bulb).

It will most likely be one of the two blue (5 Amp) fuses. And that would indicate that the most likely problem is that the two wires going into the heater cartridge are touching (short circuit).

If you don't have one, almost any cheap multimeter off eBay can be used for continuity (resistance) testing and you will find it useful in many other things.

Thank you Peter, I will look into a multimeter and check the fuze. I think I may just take it into a hardware professional to analyze.

Is there somewhere I can buy a new electronics unit in the event that there is further damage beyond the fuze?

Thanks again for your continued support.

Sorry, I got the fuse colours wrong. The 5 Amp fuses are brown and it's most like one of those is blown.

Yes, but I really don't think you will need to.

Depends where you are located. In the EU, buy from PR: https://shop.prusa3d.com/en/mk2-spare-parts/49-rambo-mini.html

In the US, go direct to Ultimachine.
