LCD Problems

After having assembled my MK2S printer there seem to be a few issues which are preventing me from using or calibrating the the printer.

  • The first thing I noticed upon powering it on was that the LCD never prompted me for a language preference, it was already in English so this didn't really seem to be problem.

  • Second, the LCD wasn't registering the presence of the SD card. The card that came with the kit seemed not to be reading on my computer either, but when using a different SD, one which the computer had no trouble reading, the LCD was still unable to read the card.

  • Third, the LCD will only toggle between the main screen, and the options screen but will not allow me to scroll through or select any of the functions on the option screen. This leaves me unable to load filament or calibrate the printer.

  • The last problem was that the LCD would not allow me to factory reset, and updating the firmware has not changed the LCD behavior.
  • I'm not certain what my problem is or how to fix it. I fear I may need a replacement LCD, but if there is a way of fix this problem without getting a new part I would prefer such a method.

    Re: LCD Problems

There are two 10 wire ribbon cables for the lcd assembly. I beileve one does the display and the other the Sd card and selector knob
Make sure both cables are installed correctly. On the mk2. The rambo does not have guides to ensure correct connection. The cable may be one pin out of alignment
Or the rambo end may be back to front. Usually the coloured wire. Is on the same side on the connectors as each other... the lcd end is keyed so cannot be wrong. The rambo end is not keyed...
One of the cables is correct because the display is working.

If conected correctly. Try changing cable 1 end for end. And rhen cable 2, end for end

Sometimes there is a poor connectio vest of luck. Joan

Thank you for the reply, that seems to have fixed my problems. I had accidentally flipped the ribbons prior to getting the LCD running; after having already rearranged them I overlooked the idea that they may still be improperly plugged in. 🙂
