Re: Did everyone get their orders on time?

Yah, my orange and black kit from April 9th still shows "On Backorder". I had chatted with a rep on Monday or Tuesday, and he said last week was a very heavy week, and that it would for sure go out this week. Guess not.

My guess is they are doing this like the airlines, once one plane is delayed, it goes further back in the que, as to not disrupt the ones they can keep on time. So, who knows when mine will ship. It's pretty obvious it is not a first in first out system. Also just the way the month lays out, I had time to assemble when it was on schedule, but now it will be harder to find time, Oh well, that's the way the cookie crumbles.

Also ordered on 9th April orange/black kit, and no movement yet even though I asked on chat earlier this week and they said it would definitely ship this week. 🙁

If that is Prusa's system it is ridiculous. That means no order Prusa dropped the ball on will ever ship as long as Prusa has any lag in their system.

Still waiting on my orange and black kit from April 5th.

Re: Did everyone get their orders on time?

Oh, I was/ am a bit frustrated at the delay, and probably made too brash a statement. And I didn't mean I and the others who didn't get there items shipped yet on the orders of the week ending on April 9th, would get pushed back to the complete end of the cue. But in my completely uninformed mind trying to reason this out I came up with a scenario.

Say that was a particular heavy week, and there was 30% more orders then a normal week. You got 10% of that extra load out in the week it was supposed to due to people really busting but, but you still have 20% extra left. Do you take care of those at the beginning of the following week (a normal 100% week in this example), and risk having a different group of people pissed off at the end of that week (likely at least 10%) when there orders don't make it out? Or do you do the orders that were supposed to ship that week first, and leave the delayed ones to the end, knowing you inconvenience fewer people longer? The gamble is that the fewer people you inconvenience longer will raise less of a stink then the larger number of people you inconvenience for a shorter time. If you talk to PR people at the airlines they will take that gamble every time. Most small businesses will not, and do what is fair and use a "First in, First out" policy.

I don't know what happened to our orders, but it sure seems like there was not an effort to keep it "First in, First out". If it was as simple as not having the right extra filament in stock, send out an e-mail say that, and give people the option to change the filament type, or have them send it out later.

By most accounts this seems like a great printer, and a year down the line I'm sure I'll not miss the couple of weeks I missed having it. And at this point it makes zero sense for me to do anything but wait. But if I was writing an Amazon review, it would probably loose 2 stars, one for the extra delay, and another for the customer service agent giving me a false statement, that it would ship this now previous week. That makes what is potentially a great item, only an average one from a review standpoint.

To make a long post even longer. About 2 years ago I was in a very similar position with an order for a CNC router from Inventables. But the difference was they kept everyone up to date once there order was placed, they tended to beat expectations (and would typically not commit to ones they couldn't meet) and it was very obvious they were "First in, First out", as you could track the progress,in a similar post to this one on there site, down to almost the day an order was placed. When the orders started ramping up and the lag got higher, they hired more people and had office people working on orders, and without saying it, practiced 6 sigma like improvements, to get the lag down, within about 6 months (about 4 months after I received my order) the company was down to same week shipping. I hope Prusa in growing in to the new facility can get there lead times down there as well, too bad some of us will not be able to benefit from that.

Re: Did everyone get their orders on time?

Almost two weeks without the shipping info table being updated, I wonder if it will be a month again before we see it updated. 😐

I spoke to support a little earlier and they said that my orange/black kit order from 11th April should arrive in the UK by this weekend :). No dispatch note yet, but perhaps it gives others an indication on dispatch times.

Re: Did everyone get their orders on time?

I didn't expect a single thing before end of July. I received my UPS tracking number this morning. I have mixed emotions.

We'll be out of the country starting this weekend and through next week. Honestly I don't think I have anything to worry about as I expect it will take a while for things to actually start moving. That said, I'll keep an eye out and get someone to go put it inside if it turns up next week by chance. I was wondering if a signature was required for delivery or if it'd be left by UPS. I don't remember reading about signature requirements.

Great job, Prusa. It's paradoxically difficult for a small business to survive huge demand sometimes, and I know everyone appreciates the effort to produce the right product.

It usually takes up to a week from when you get the UPS tracking info, maybe slightly more than a week depending on where in the world it is shipping to. Not sure if UPS requires a signature, I think it might differ depending on location.

When did you order and is it assembled or kit version?

Re: Did everyone get their orders on time?

Actually, it is showing UPS has picked up the package already. The label was generated at 3:10 Czech time, and there's a pickup scan at 4:08. All this morning. I ordered on May 19th.

Ordered April 16th, received tracking notice on June 6th, the label is simply made and the package has yet to be picked up. I asked support if it would ship today and was told yes and reassured. However I do not believe this was the case as it is now past 5pm in the Czech Republic. 😡

I remember seeing a lot of posts here where the pick up time was around 7pm.

I know it is difficult to remain patient. But really your only option is to either trust them and wait or cancel and request a refund. Choose. 😀

Re: Did everyone get their orders on time?

Hang in there!!!

I received my orange and black kit Thursday afternoon and built my MK2S over the weekend.

my thoughts while you wait and when you get ready to build..(this was my first kit, 2nd printer)

All in all, the kit is excellent quality...I'm amazed at the quality and tolerances of the ABS printed parts.

Kit
on the threaded rods, run a nut on and off of both ends to make sure their burr free.
have the online version of the manual available, zooming in on pictures was a must for me
if a step is a little confusing, read ahead and see what the result is supposed to be. There are some confusing areas
a digital caliper is helpful
pay attention to cable management, and wire locations.
have a flat surface and comfy chair to work in.
I found the estimated times to be pretty dead on, if not a little optimistic.
You WILL need to use and understand Live-Z Adjustment, read up on it.
I did have a bad linear bearing in the kit (some bearings came out while assembling, prusa was right on it and shipping me new ones.

Slic3r:
Get to know it now if you plan on using it. I've made the 'mistake' of switching to a new printer, new computer and new slicer at once. I've made MANY mistakes between the 3 that were 100% my fault.

All in all, it's a new printer, that I need to get to know and understand like my old printer (MP select mini). Don't let the 2 month wait get your expectations too high, it's still a process. That being said, I've done a beautiful calibration cube in pla and a good calibration cube in ABS. I'm having some troubles getting prints to stick to the bed, but that's me trying to not use glue or tape, and like I said, getting to know my new friend 😉

Good luck all. You'll be building soon enough, and wishing you had time to be reading the forums

Re: Did everyone get their orders on time?

Just an update on my delivery so others can get an idea of what to expect. I am in Washington (US West Coast). My printer started moving on June 7th last week. My shipping progress shows it leaving Germany, then hitting Stansted, UK, and then it says it left Germany again 😕 . "Scheduled delivery information is not available at this time. Please check back later." is what it says for my scheduled delivery so I'm guessing I still have a couple days ahead of me until I get it.

Congrats Robert on the build 😀 ! Looking forward to building mine!

Re: Did everyone get their orders on time?

So my April 9th orange and black kit has left the building after almost exactly 9 weeks. I think I fired up the chat window at just about the perfect time today (I talked to them a week ago as well, and that didn't amount to much). The nice representative said it was in the shipping cue, and she would "order the transportation" as we were talking. Sure enough I got a UPS email that it had been generated, and a few hours later at just before 7PM there time it went out the door (Pickup Scan).

It does seem like the company responds quickly to chat, and that is at least better then some.

At least now it is down to transportation, and building it, and using it. 😉

Re: Did everyone get their orders on time?

I thought I would include my tracking so far as well. I live in Indiana and my tracking on the UPS website says scheduled delivery information not available at this time and has said that all weekend, but I did receive an email this morning that said I had a delivery arriving tomorrow from Prusa Research, so we will see if the printer makes it to Kentucky tonight and up to Indiana before the trucks go out tomorrow in the AM. Something similar happened to someone else several pages back and it made it to them all the way in Washington State in one night. I'd like to say I'm not going to get my hopes up that it is delivered tomorrow, but let's be honest, I am.

I'm sorry to hear that Carl. If possible, you may want to chat them up during business hours tomorrow. I know they are always available, but during business hours they seem to be able to get more stuff done. Good luck, hopefully yours will go out tomorrow.
