Re: Did everyone get their orders on time?

Order placed 13 March for MK2 orange kit without any extras. Shipping notice received this morning at 7am. I'll update when the magic arrives here on the east coast (US).

I ordered the same day! So how have I not received a shipping notification?!?!?!?!? Maybe I'll have to chat with support again Tomorrow and find out what is happening.

Congratulations: I'm at about 3 weeks out myself (April 6th order), excited that it might appear Prusa is catching up a little 😀

Its good to be positive but the wait is getting even longer.

I am already at 64 days and not expecting a shipping notification for another 7 days minimum (and I'm lying to myself its probably more like 14 days+).

Don't get your hopes up that an April 6th order is only 3 weeks from being delivered, try doubling that to 6 weeks so you aren't disappointed. I fell into the trap of counting days and weeks and here I am pretty bitter about the whole thing. This is my first 3D printer, I absolutely regret my choice to choose this one as my first. I cant really afford to buy a second one to hold me over while I wait for my MK2s.

Yeah its a tough wait. On the one hand I love what Prusa has done for the 3D printing community with their design, and I like the idea of supporting that, and I truly believe it's a top notch product.
But to have a shipping schedule that updates every 2 weeks or so, no updates on where you are in the queue, and to seemingly treat those who made the 'mistake' of ordering the wrong color (black) as if there order was less important...well, it sucks. I watched a stream the other day where a guy assembled a Anet A8 that he purchases for $160 that he received in 2 days (shipping was included) and after assembly and leveling the guy put out a flawless print...makes me question my own sanity.
Lucky for me, this isn't my first printer. I have a monoprice select min ($200) that prints great to play with while I wait.

Hang in there...I hope for both of our sake that the wait is worth is and that the buyers remorse is replaced with the joy of flawless prints 😀

You placed your order only a few days after mine, I'd guess yours will be shipped next week.

I know the wait is frustrating, this is my first 3D printer too.

Still don't have mine yet, it's supposed to be delivered Wednesday. The last tracking scan shows it leaving Koeln, Germany today at 5:29am.

. Its nice that they have the little shipping estimate calendar posted, but if it never get's updated, it just becomes another source of frustration. It's also proving to be highly inaccurate.

They asked that I pay up front, tell me it would be x weeks; x weeks goes by; and they never offer me any correspondence.

Josef Prusa need's to sort out the business side.

It's nice making Rep Raps and I'm sure it was a cool idea in his head to start selling the I3, but running a business brings responsibility's and certain etiquette's along with it. When someone gives you nearly 800$ for a product you cant deliver right away, you have a certain duty to handle things in a certain way.

I have no idea if I'm going to get my printer this coming week, two weeks, three weeks; as apparently Prusa Research does not think it important to let me know.

I wont comment on the segregation of the black i3's. I will just say that It's sad times in this day and age that black 3d printers don't have equal status, but here we are.

I agree 100% with all the points you've made.

Prusa is going through some growing pains, unfortunate we have to pay the price with our frustration. They definitely need to keep their customers more up to date about order status and delays. Also need to ship orders in the sequence they were placed (FIFO). I can understand a 1 week delay for all black kits if they only print the all black parts 1 day a week - but the all black kits are running about 3 weeks behind the orange & black kits now.

Hopefully when they've finished moving to the new larger facility they will get this all sorted out.

I feel bad for the people who ordered assembled kits.

You would think it would just be as easy as renting out some space, hiring a bunch of people to put together machines, and shipping them out.

There is some kind of major bottleneck in the operation. I don't think it's the components they use as they seem to be readily available. The excuse of "not enough space" is kind of a moot point when you can setup a print farm and assembly line just about anywhere. I don't know what would make Czech Republic any different in that regard.

Either way I'm sure it's not trivial, I just think after so much time; they would of figured out something.

I'm sure Czech republic has no shortage of laborer's who are technical enough to put together a 3D printer with the right training from Prusa Papa Bear himself.

*shrug*

Prusa Research I'm sure was over taxed getting the Multi Material production complete, and Prusa probably has too much oversight on everything to multi task everything that need's to get done.

Which might be something Josef wants to think about, giving other people more control to handle some of the important decisions that need to be made, such as coming up with improved process's for meeting demand on printer kits.

you have 1 person who does nothing but bag up the nuts and bolts.
1 person who does nothing but collect all the printed parts to make sure they are there.
1 person who does nothing but package up stepper motors.
1 person who does nothing but make wiring harness's.
1 person who does nothing but package bearings.
1 person who does nothing but package linear rails.
1 person who takes a piece from each of the other departments and makes a kit
1 person who checks to make sure that the kit includes everything.
1 person does quality control to make sure the nuts and bolts people are including all the nuts and bolts.
etc..

to scale up you just add a person to each department so you have two people bagging up nuts and bolts.

it would be interesting to see a behind the scenes of how each kit is assembled for shipping. we can open source the assembly process ! 🙂

Re: Did everyone get their orders on time?

No shipping email yet, but my order was on March 23rd, and according to the (as yet) not up-to-date shipping schedule, it should be shipping from today.

Thankfully I have another printer to use until it gets here, so if it's a bit late, I'm not going to hurt for it.

Re: Did everyone get their orders on time?

Placed my order for the orange and black kit on March 6th. No shipping email yet.

I was hoping to have it by now to print something for my brother who needed get the parts before the end of this month, I guess that's not happening now.

It would be nice to have the shipping schedule updated more regularly.

My order was March 22 for an orange printer. No shipping email yet... No idea if I am even close since the shipping progress page hasn't been updated in 2 weeks.

May 8th is VE day, also Liberation day in CZ, so they may not even be working today. Ordered mine on March 20th and hoping to hear it shipped soon.

Re: Did everyone get their orders on time?

The utter lack of communication is what is making me crazy. The MK2S is a substantial investment for me. While I'm trying to turn my Hobby into a business, I'm having to tell potential customers asking me about timelines, that I have no idea beyond 'early summer?'. Meanwhile I have a Credit Card Bill from last month, because of course I get charged the day I ordered.

I go through this every Monday/Tuesday when I realized I could have a knockoff I3 here by the weekend. 🙄

My fear is quality is going to drop with the rush to catch up and moving manufacturing sites and I'll be stuck with a giant paper weight while I wait another month or 2 for parts.... 😥

Re: Did everyone get their orders on time?

I was told today on chat that my order from 3/19 will ship within the week but they said that last week too. He did say that they're running behind on the move too. I can't take the wait. I'm already coming up on the second credit card payment for something I don't even have yet. I just can't wait to start printing.

Re: Did everyone get their orders on time?

Just talked with them using the chat.

They are running a bit behind, my order from 2017-03-25 should be shipped during the beginning of next week.
So since I ordered on a saturday, and it will ship in the beginning of the next week in the schedule, it would seem like they are 3-4 days behind (which is not that bad, considering that they are in the middle of a move).

Funny, since I chatted with them last week asking about any delays caused by the move and they indicated that shipping would not be affected. Still hopeful.

Re: Did everyone get their orders on time?

My order was also placed on the 19th of March. Last week support said shipping would be this week - this week they are saying next week. I sort of wonder if the standard answer is always "next week" or if something changed.

I really dont get the point in not keeping the shipping information page up-to-date... That would save a lot of time from guys like us asking for shipping estimates.

I was told today on chat that my order from 3/19 will ship within the week but they said that last week too. He did say that they're running behind on the move too. I can't take the wait. Re: Did everyone get their orders on time?

I inquired this morning about my order (also from the 19th of march - a lot of shopping that sunday).
I was told that my order was "on the shipping list and will go out in the next 72 hours".

Come to think of it: Perhabs all the 19/3-orders in this thread are not just a coincidence. Perhabs there really is a large chunk of orders from around that period. I bought mine with a time limited voucher from another company (printable Scenery) that just had a succesful Kickstarter, and I'm probably not the only one.

Maybe that could explain the falling behind of schedule again lately (besides the moving).
