Re: Current lead time, still 4 weeks ?

So it is here. Ordered 02.11.2016 Kit BLACK. UPS did not change its status from the second station in Germany to delivery, so I was reloading the page the whole day and cursing. But then short before 15:00 the UPS car came 🙂

Another newbie here 🙂

Ordered the orange kit today, emailed to inform its on a 4 week back order for shipping.

I can wait, I would rather the kits a good than they get rushed.

Gavin.

I ordered the orange kit on November 16th.
I emailed support the other day asking for an estimated ship date.
The reply I got stated it should ship by the 21st of this month.
So for me atleast it is looking more like 5 weeks.

Yep, ordered the kit on the 11th Nov and got a shipping date of 15th of Dec. So you are looking at at the very least 5 weeks, but would gather a bit more (when I ordered, lead time was quoted as 3 - 4 weeks, whereas it is now quoted as 6 - 7 weeks so prepare to be patient)

All I can say with my MK1 upgraded to a MK2 is it is worth the wait for a genuine Prusa I3 MK2 3D printer.

Just for reference: I ordered the Kit (orange) on 3rd of November (lead time was 3-4 weeks). Got the Info today that it will be delivered around 9th of December. I think that's ok. 😀

Same here, order on Nov 2 (orange & black) and just shipped out yesterday. It is slated to arrive at my door step on the 13th (I live in Toronto Canada).

Original lead-time was 3-4 weeks, time for release was 1 day short of 5 weeks with about 1 week for UPS transport.

I think I've hit the refresh button a thousand time on the UPS page. LOL

Just now the lead time is to much for PayPal.
I have the invoice for the i3 in my email, but not sure how to wire the money.

So another hoop has been jumped through.

Edit!
➡ I have now sent payment using PayPal.. 🙄
I hope Prusa has smooth seas in the new year!
Would have been nice to just buy it without the extra hassle
Thank you customer service! quick response and help with payment.

The extra lead time gives me time to figure out how I am going to build an enclosure before it arrives.

Wow, seems the Prusa Research Store sucks - but in a good way  . Status of my MK2 order is still "On backorder" but as of a mail from UPS, it left Prague a hour ago and will arrive at my door tomorrow. That seems to be really quick.

I placed my order on November 12th and they're expecting a ship date of December 19th for that order which is in line with their 4-5 week estimate when ordering. Looks like everything is still on track and they're shipping according to schedule.

Hmmm... I am tempted to order another Mk2...

not sure whether I should or not... as I am enjoying making things which take a lot of printer time,

but don't know if the need will dry up, or not...

bowden drive printing with flexibles may not be a good idea, and the colour upgrade doesn't allow for quick regression to direct drive...

has anyone printed a crystal ball, maybe they could have a look into my future! 😀

You will buy a second printer and you will receive your multi-filament upgrade. Not saying when all this will happen though... 😉

I am thinking on another one also. Don't have the cash at the time though so forcing thought.

I think flexible and Bowden is a bad match. I have another printer set up to do flexibles with extruders built for it.

I agree on the multi color. I think I may not use it that much and want to keep a MK2 for regular printing so a second with the multi color would be ideal.

Precisely why I am saving up to upgrade my Mk1 to a Mk2.

Multi-filament printers are also food for soluble support material, but for me, I am very drawn towards multi-colour printing. But I do need a second printer for the models which cannot be printed with the multi-filament upgrade installed.

Re: Current lead time, still 4 weeks ?

Yea, Peter. My MK2 is running so nice I hate to change it over to multi material. Since I don't see the multi material kit coming soon, which is fine, I may see about getting a second printer for it in the future.

Re: Current lead time, still 4 weeks ?

Personally, I think it better to upgrade a settled in and working printer only for the reason that with a new printer + upgrade there are many more things which may need adjusting; the MM upgrade will certainly complicate the build of a new printer.
