PET Print Quality Issue

Hello,
I am trying to print the upgrade parts for the MK2s to MK2.5. I am using the spool of PET that was provided with the upgrade kit, and printing the gcode that I downloaded from the Prusa website.

When the print starts out the quality is pretty bad, as you can see in the center-back part in the picture below. Lots of ridges and gummy bits. Some of the parts were printing okay though as you can see in the part closest to the camera. After getting 3/4 of the way through the first layer it started acting as though the extruder was jammed and would only click and no plastic was extruded. You can see the ghost on the right were it failed to lay down anything more than a thing sheen of plastic.

Can anyone give me some suggestions on what I am doing wrong here? I am getting a bit discouraged with my printer unfortunately, and because of that have not been using it as much as I hoped.

I'm not there, so perhaps I am missing a detail; but in all appearances your bed is not level. Layer one is thin most everywhere; and dangerously thin on the right where the nozzle can't even extrude material (the clicking).

Perform a bed level calibration and raise the Z-axis 50um to 100um and retry the print.

then if still problematic, try bed level correction!

Re: PET Print Quality Issue

I went through the instructions and re-calibrated the bed and the Z height. I also printed the squares for the advanced bed calibration. It made a huge difference! Thank you.

My next issue though is some blobbing that occurs on some pieces. These are still from the official gcode distributed by Prusa for the 2.5 upgrade.
Any follow-up instructions that might help solve these issues? Thanks again.

You are still looking a bit low; the nozzle is laying down ridges between stripes. Raise the Z level another 50um and see how it goes. Also, depending on filament, the extruder may be over extruding material: you might try reducing the extrusion rate 5% to 10% for the first couple of layers.
