@ Shaun.k2

Have you run that v2 calibration or Jeff's v4 75*75 mm calibration gcode ,as with out that your values will not get stored .You might have missed that.

I used Jeff's hex and the Prusa firmware updater to flash the firmware.

Yes I have run the 75*75 calibration gcode. I think it's a temperature issue, as whenever I start printing the hyperfine calibration shapes (starting from the middle circle), everything works perfectly. In the hyperfine gcode, the point at which the temperatures are triggered and the height of the extruder from the bed while heating up is different than my usual settings.

I have also reversed the fan direction. Will try later to see if it has made a difference.

@shaun.k2

Make sure that it's V4 only ,as in older version of 75*75mm Gcode the values don't get stored in the memory. Thanks to Jeffjordan for providing v4 version where in he implemented G87 command.

Re: Hyperfine bed leveling?

Yes it's the V4 version that I used indeed.

This is the result of the hyperfine "all" print after calibration last night. I made a few small tweaks to the bed level correction after this but saw no need to print this again. Looks quite alright, doesn't it?

But today, I can't even print a single small item in the middle of the bed.

After having a look onto your bed ,all I can say is clean the bed with 99% IPA and then with acetone & try once again .

Your last print seems ok to start with and make sure that you changed the live z height back to the value required for centre as it is seeming to be more squished.

I will try with acetone as soon as I can purchase some. All I have is 70% IPA, the strongest concentration that I could find at the pharmacy.

Yes I have changed the live Z height back to the initial height.

@shaun.k2

Honestly speaking I feel 70% IPA is a culprit.
As I print in Abs even 99% IPA doesn't work some time .So pure acetone was the ultimate resort.

In the mean time try using a coat of glue or Abs juice if printing with Abs.

Re: Hyperfine bed leveling?

my results have been equally awesome printing a 250mm x 210mm rectangle.

after owning the printer for a year and just putting up with it, I can print large items without worrying about the ripples in the first layer.

Is there a modified version of the MM firmware?

I can't agree enough, this mod pulled everything together and had it all working like a dream! Was just wondering the same thing about MM since I just upgraded.

Obviously, I am running with the MMU and obviously I am using my patch with it...

Jeff has just recently received his MMU also, so I guess it won't be long until he has a HEX file for you...

Wiped down the bed with some acetone and modified my starting gcode to mimic the behaviour of the hyperfine calibration centre circle gcode, i.e. preheat bed to printing temp, preheat nozzle to 170, auto home, heat nozzle to print temp while doing 9-point calibration, start print.

So far, using last night's painstakingly calibrated live-Z value has worked wonders on a few test prints in the centre of the bed, although to be safe I did print at 50% speed for the first layer or two.

@ Shaun.k2
Nice to hear that it's working for you. You can also sand the PEI sheet with some 1500 grit sand paper and again wipe it off with alcohol and acetone.

I would request you to please avoid you 70%Ipa for this purpose.

Now share test print pictures.😊

Some great stuff in this thread.
Finally solving a printer problem is sooo satisfying.
A big thanks to everyone helping guys like me out.

Peter

until now I didn't manage to find the time for assembling the mm-kit and allocating the required space (for the additional spools) at my "desk".
but it should only take a few minutes to copy the Configuration_prusa.h for the mm-kit into the firmware folder and start the compiling process once more.
so I'll have a look at it this evening...

Re: Hyperfine bed leveling?

Hi to all the members .

I was printing PLA onto my Mk2 like a pro after this upgrade. Then I went ahead with Abs and it was fine till 3 initial prints and then suddenly it started failing again and again .

Now my issue is my bed got warped so severely after printing with Abs .I did checked most of the tentative causes . Xyz calibration gives perpendicular message . Z height set using Jeff’s 75*75 cube . But still getting issues.

Hi,

ABS can be a B..ch, saying that the PINDA probe has a temperature drift. This is hopefully better with the coming PINDAv2 which is on the MK3.
Also the heated bed will 'bend' different with high temps ~100°C than with 40-56°C.

Maybe you should try to do the use bed corrections and Live-Z values for PLA and anothers for ABS.

!!! BUT be careful. Don't forget to switch back the Live-Z/Bed correction values after printing with ABS and switching back to PLA!!!

I got 3 nozzle dots on my PEI sheet, forgetting that 🙁

Re: Hyperfine bed leveling?

So, after reading (I think) this entire thread, is it correct to assume that you cannot do the "hyperfine" bed leveling using the stock (even the RC1) firmware for MK2S? The G80 commands, as they exist in the official firmware, only cover the 4 points (not the 9)?

Correct. Firmware available here: https://github.com/3d-gussner/Prusa-Firmware

The PR firmware adjusts 6 points for each of the F/R/B/L settings; the amended firmware allows adjustment of 8 individual points.

Jeff, please carefully read my post.

The PR firmware adjusts 6 points for each of the F/R/B/L settings. So when you adjust the font, the centre front is adjusted, also the left and right front and the 3 points on the centre row. The same is true for R/B/L settings. This is the reason why it is not possible to get a decent adjustment on some (most?) beds.

Is there a chance that the finer adjustment capability will be fed into a future release?

Correct. Firmware available here: https://github.com/3d-gussner/Prusa-Firmware

The hyperfine firmware 3.0.1-RC1 is in a different branch https://github.com/3d-gussner/Prusa-Firmware/tree/MK2-Hyperfine , THIS IS a BETA and may change in the next day or two.
I am also busy to get some pull requests in the https://github.com/3d-gussner/Prusa-Firmware/tree/MK2-ALL_IN_ONE branch and as soon tests are okay i will release the hex files.
Including Hyperfine Tuning, Filament Runout Sensor via menu, PLA 1st in preheat, Fixes, ...
