Calibration Issues

My printer is having major calibration issues, and I would love some help! The belt is also squeaking, but I'm assuming that's a smaller issue.

Z Calibration

Summary: Nozzle presses into bed for some points (mainly on the right-hand side). No error message.

XYZ Calibration

Summary: Again nozzle presses into bed. Catches the paper. Error message after is "Bed calibration point was not found."

On these forums I read about the PINDA probe possibly being too high. I tried a variety of different heights, but it does not seem to help. The LED on the probe does work, though the light turns on/off at somewhat strange distances in my opinion.

Here is a screenshot of the current PINDA probe height (there are more views in the XYZ calibration video too): https://imgur.com/a/osAnTUV

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Re: Calibration Issues

Hi, First as soon as the nozzle touches the bed you should stop the printer, This can damage the bed and machine.

1. Check to ensure the cables on the board are all connected good and that the "Live-Z" is set to 0.0

2. You may need to lower the "Probe" down a bit it may not be low enough.
A guide to check probe

3. There is a noise in the printer movement that doesn't sound right to me check the alignment of the printer and belts make sure it looks as shown in guide.

4. check out this page it has some good videos on how to test the basics

This will take some testing to narrow down what can cause this issue so if you are willing to pout the time in i'll try and help.

Re: Calibration Issues

Hello! I have the exact same problem after a failed print (I'll explain below why it happened in case it matters) but my printer doesn't make the sound. The nozzle presses hard on the bed at the same point, exactly like the video, and when I do XYZ calibration it always catches on the paper at the 2nd step of the first 4. I lowered the probe as much as I could (it's almost at the same level as the nozzle), and it still does the same. Had any luck with anything?

About the other thing, my extruder cables fall down instead of standing up and when the Y axis moves to the front and then far back, the bed cables get caught above the others, and this probably hinders the movement. This results in bad prints, that have some layers at some point moved towards the back of the Y axis, and I didn't have any additional problem whatsoever yet. This happened again today but I wasn't home to stop it when I should, it resulted in a mess that I could clean very easily, but then the problem with the bed appeared.

Re: Calibration Issues

on the mk2 there are several issues which can cause this sort of behaviour

1, the 10mm Y axis screwed rods not resting properly in the bottom of the slots in the mainframe...

the mainframe should be suspended off the table

2, the Y axis rails not being seated properly in the corner pieces.

3, the two Z leadscrews being out of ballance

use the control panel to rub the X carriage assembly all the way to the top, so that the motors stall when the Z axis bearing blocks top out against the Z axis top brackets

Re: Calibration Issues

I appreciate the responses and carefully worked my way through them. After many careful PINDA probe adjustments, I was able to complete XYZ calibration and make my first successful print! I did adjust the belt a bit and was able to reduce the odd sounds it was making, but not eliminate it completely. For now I'll consider this great progress! Thank you for the help. 🙂
