calibartion issue, only the right z-axis motor is spinning, when calibrating
hey
i can leve the z axis. that not a problem
but when i the printer trys to calibrate the first 4 beds calibration points. only the right z axis is moving. not the left z- axis.
so after a while the z axis isn't leved/calibrate. it gets askew.
as you can see the right axis is a little bit higher
there is no dirt at the motor. i mean it looks like nothing blocks the motor.
so i dont know what is wrong

it is possible that i destoryed little bit the wire
so that ony big voltage/current can path.

so how to change the wire. or do i need a new motor. or can i solder a new one to the motor?

i fixed the wires.
but there is still that issue.

the answer depends on how experienced you are in soldering tiny little things. your asking let's assume that you are not grown up with a soldering iron in your cradle 😆 .

anyhow, the proper procedure would be to cut the blue wire at the damaged position and strip its insulation a few (2 - 3) mm at both ends. then you pull some convenient shrinkable tubing of appox. 2cm over the longer end (you'll need it later to cover the repaired location). afterwards you first coat both uninsulated ends with tin-solder and a fine soldering iron. after both ends are coated, use some tweezers, your soldering iron and steady hands to solder both ends together. make sure that the soldering joint is shiny and not dim. then pull the shrinkable tubing over the solder joint and shrink it, using a heat gun or similar. ready 😀
for the procedure you need a small soldering iron with a clean, shiny tip. not a 80W roasting tin, whose hot tip came in contact with plastics or wood once before...
if the damaged location is to tight to the motor block itself, you need to disassemble the motor block. but i won't recommend this if you are unexperienced.

oops... took to long to explain, you've been quicker 😉 .
❓ did you check the connector that plugs into the rambo board ?
there the wires are sometimes not properly crimped. check the motors resistance with an ohmmeter at the connector. you should get a constant value of a few ohms.

can you explain how to measure the ohm. I mean can you give me an exapmle what is the a right value and what is a wrong value.

at my y-motor i measured approximately 6.5 Ohm at the connector for each phase (including the cables resistance).
there are two phases, so you should find 2x two of the 4 pins where you can measure a low resistance (~ 5 - 10 Ohm), but actually i can't tell you between which colors, so you have to try it out. in case of the z-motors the value might be a little bit higher, because they are slightly smaller and have a lower torque.

hey i only mesuered 4,2 ohm between red and blue. when the motor doenst move

4.2 ohm is pretty ok for the phase.
didn't you measure the same resistance between green and black ?

okay , with proterface i can move both z axis 0.02mm (move z 0.02) that is working.
so maybee the firmware hase an issue?

what i have do for troubleshooting:
-i inspectet all cable
-i switch the connector form the z-axis. but it is still the right motor, who is moving
-i solder the squised cables form the left z axis motor.
the print is now pretty sad 🙁
and gets coverd in dust 🙁
lets make that printer happy again 🙂

Maybe its a longshot but how strong have you screwed the scews on the right Z axis that press against the X-Axis?
Maybe try to carefully remove the X-axis and the threaded trapezoid nuts and inspect them, if the left one has got any damage.
Also then check if the threaded rods have some debris in them.
Also try to use high power mode to calibrate.
Also your printer in the second video is in an unfavorable position as the Bed hit your sofa and the whole printer moved 😀

yes, i noticed that the printer was in the wrong position. 😀
so unscrewed left z axis but it wasn t still moving.
i also checked if there is some debris inside. but it was clean.
and i the printer is in the high power mode.

i dont know why is the right z axis is moving up when he trys to fine calibrate? is this maybe the issue?
i mean normaly the z axis has to go down in tiny stepts. but this on is moving up in tiny steps

It can't hurt to try to reflash firmware for your Prusa.

-Connect printer to PC/MAC/whatever
-start FirmwareUpdaterV2.exe

-then Flash

Also dont be afraid when you move the axis up, to let them slam against the top end. do it for 5 seconds to be absolutely sure they are in their highest position. Joseph Prusa does it too in the first spin video, so i'm pretty sure it will not damage anything.

yes, it will not damage anything.
i tried even older firmwares and the newst one. but there is still that issue. so maybe the motor is broken.
but i dont find any broken parts. except the sqeezed cable. but i soldered it.
the technicians will send me a new motor. so we will see.

Swap over the two motors, if the problem changes sides you know it's the motor. If problem stays the same you know it's the controller

you don't need to swap over the steppers itself, it's sufficient to swap the connectors at the rambo board
