Parts visible in STL-model but missing in slicer and in print

Hello,

I'm very new to 3D modelling and printing and also in this forum, I hope I am in the right section here and one of you experienced specialists here can give me a hint.

I created an STL model which looks perfect for me. When importing it to Prusa slicer (v. 2.4.0 win 64) it still looks perfect (see screenshot - green model). But after slicing parts of the wall are missing (see preview screenshot). I already tried with the highest resolution (Ultradetail) but it does not change anything. Prusa slicer does not suggest to repair the model, but I tried repairing by netfabb - but also that didn't help.

First I thought it might only be a sort of display bug in the software and printed the part, but the print had the same parts missing as in the preview.

Can anyone here explain to me the reason? The "walls" from where the parts are missing actually are equally thick all over. So if thickness (or thinness) would be the reason, these wells should be missing at all. By the way, I also tried to slice with Cura, but same effect.

Any suggestion appreciated,

Thank you,

Joachim

I think you are having a "thin wall issue".

Thanks a lot - seems this did the job. I ticked the check box "Detect thin walls" and set XY compensation to 0,2mm.

Nevertheless I don't quite understand why otherwise ca 95% of the walls are printed correctly although they have the same thickness ("thinness"). But I'm very well aware that I still have to learn a lot about 3D printing 😉

Thanks again.

Rgds,
