Tangled Filament
I am a working my way through the grey spool of filament that came with my MK2S kit. As I use more of the filament, it seems to want to tangle as it is being pulled from the spool by the extruder. The filament seems to get stuck for a second, then pops out and the spool unwinds a little. As the filament moves back and forth over the rest of the wound spool, it eventually goes under another section and when pulled, it gets stuck so well that the filament stops unwinding. I attached a picture below.
I would appreciate any suggestions. So far, I have had some luck with clamping a large washer to the top rail of the printer and feeding the filament through it. This has lessened the movement of filament back and forth as the extruder moves on the print bed.
Re: Tangled Filament
Your filament end has fot undwr one or more turns of filament .....
Turn the roll forward whilst holding the end of the filament in place
This should loosen the next few turns of filament
Pop the loops of filament off the side of the reel
And untangle them
Then turn the roll backwards to re spool the filament
This should resolve your problem

Re: Tangled Filament
Thanks - even after the filament is untangled, it will do the same thing again within an hour or so. I have only noticed this after the spool is about 2/3 gone.
I will look at the YouTube video you suggested.

Re: Tangled Filament
After watching the video, I think my problem is that the spool needs a little more friction as it turns. I am going to try this. Thanks

Re: Tangled Filament
One tip also, never EVER let go of the loose end. This will make it end up as yours have.
Use some kind of filament clip to secure the end to th reel when storing.
