Stepper Motor Adjustment
In review of the features of the Prusa i3 MK3 printer, I found the resolution to be 50 microns. How many cycles of the stepper motor are required to reach this resolution, and can this be reduced through the software to improve the resolution of the device?
Re: Stepper Motor Adjustment
More of a question than answer: using a 0.25 mm nozzle, and vertical resolution of 0.05 mm, the smallest "dot" of filament has a radius of 0.125 mm, a move of 0.05 mm is barely detectable. Add belt stretch, damping issues, and even 0.05 mm becomes almost invisible in the noise.
That said... a creative mind could play with the code and with research may find a different micro-stepping mode supported by the motors and drivers to get smaller steps, but unless you solved a few other problems you'd likely not see a difference in final print quality.
By the way, the X and Y axis resolution is already better than 0.05. Only the Z axis has the 0.05 spec.
