PrusaLink with a Mk2.5

I have my old i3 Mk 2.5 (started out as a Mk 1, then Mk 2, then Mk 2.5). I have a Core One (started out as a Mk 4, then a Mk 4/s then the Core One), and since I upgraded the Mk4/s to the Core One I have been using Prusa Connect with the Buddy3d camera. So all that backstory finished, here's the situation:

I decided to try get the old Mk 2.5 working with Prusa Connect. I used OctoPrint all the way until I upgraded the Mk 4/s to the Core One. I have generally been happy with Prusa Connect. There are a few things I wish it had, but mostly everything I need is there.

I installed Prusa Link on a Raspberry Pi 3 (b+ I think it is), and it works, however when I try to set up Prusa Link it says it can't obtain the serial number from the printer and wants me to provide it. I have looked through the remnants of all my old upgrades of the printers and was only able to find one serial number and it wasn't remotely in the format it wants (starting with CZX or something like that). So, I contacted support and they gave me some things to try from using Pronterface to using some windows commands and nothing returned a S/N, in any format. My board is a RAMBo1.3a (I think there's an a there). Anyway, its not the older 1.0 version.  They're "working on a solution and will contact me back". It has been a week, and I don't have a high degree of confidence that they'll come up with one.

Has anyone been successful (or even tried) in getting Prusa Link to work with a Mk 2.5 or earlier?  Should I just give up on Prusa Connect and go back to OctoPrint which served me very well for many, many years?  I would like to use the same control software with both printers. I bought one of the stand alone Buddy3D cameras to use with the Mk 2.5 if I can get it working, can I use those with OctoPrint using the RTSP address?

Should I just give away the old Mk 2.5 to a friend and let it be their headache? hah.
